Tesco direct - half price!!!

Well, just picked my order up. Both coopers stout kits are bb 06/02/17.
The grape juice has a few months on it, and the 30 bottle winebuddy is OK for another year and a half.

Not much. You just pull the pin on the spring thing, lower r higher the main capping contraption and release the pin. If you've got lots of different size bottle it really helps if you sort them into similar sizes. I dont have the GEB bench capper btw I have a bit more expensive one but it works the same way

I think one will be on my birthday or Christmas list this year.

grabbed a 6 bottle youngs black-cherry kit for £4, has anyone tried it before? The ingredients look like it's black cherry and elderberry concentrate, and I need to add sugar so I'm sure it's pretty low/medium quality.

Worth a punt tying up a DJ for a month, as I was picking up the 25L carboy thing anyway for £7 :thumb:

OMG I just bought 3 Coopers Lager kits and 2 John Bull 1.8kg kits for �£30.50.

Now, what do I do with them? Parti-gyle brews look like the way to go, suddenly, having been handed a free pass to high ABV beer from the Grainfather.

I have basically struggled with anything much over 6kg in the GF. Maybe I am not doughing in vigorously enough, but I just get either a very slow mash (reduced flow using the red controller at the to of the pump re-circulator) or one that goes down the middle (or even down the carrying handle holes on the side).

Anyway, I have short, but ever growing, list of beers that could be done to full batch by adding a kit or done as a half batch and then then add the kit to a full second runnings batch.

Tesco and other supermarkets are weird. They could be selling off either short dated stock or just shifting de-listed lines with a longer date

They are not too well made, and can leak, but at �£12.50 if still reduced they are good value, since most leaks can be fixed.
This may be of use

A spare set of gaskets and possibly a cap is advisable.
If you need CO2 injection, this comes extra to the basic barrel.

Most of my stuff is now waiting at the local Tesco for me to go and get it :thumb:

I did however get a voicemail on Saturday followed by a text message saying the fermenter I'd ordered was unavailable and that they'd be refunding me. No a big deal but a bit of a shame as it said they had stock on the web site when I ordered it. That said I've ordered fermenters from them before and they turned up without any lids so had the hassle of taking them back for replacements. For some reason they couldn't just send out the lids on their own

Just been to collect my two fermenters, click and collect sounds like a quick process and they arrived at the store in good time so I turn up at my small local Tescos and tell the first member of staff I see what I'm there for, she tells me to go to the till who will ring a bell, so I do that and bell is rung and I stand around waiting for ages until till assistant shouts down the store 'click and collect' at which point the original person I'd spoke to comes along saying they didn't hear the bell.
Grrrrr, I know I'm turning into a grumpy old man but they had more staff than customers when I was there.

I suspect this is what'll happen to me tomorrow. I normally order to the superstore a few miles away, but for a fivers worth of stuff, I thought I'd try the local little shop.

You never know......it could be like a "fine-tuned machine". Where have I heard that recently?

well my order is in and will be collected later. but clicking on the links on my emailed invoice just says they no longer stock this item. Just adds fuel to the fire that Tesco are pulling out of Homebrew

Just collected my order, felt like I was robbing the place! £200 of kit for £67 :lol:.

The closest date on the tins is December 2017, the others were well into 2018.

Agree. Mine fell to pieces too. Better savings in the long run going for the �£19 bench capper from Geterbrewed or similar.

I have they're bench capper and it's a dream - I haven't used it too much mind you as have been too lazy to bottle as I have to bottle/clean bottles etc outside and it's been too cold for me to. ( I work outdoors mostly for my job so I'm accustomed to the elements but when it involves cold water etc it's not great fun on your days off)

It seems this way every year, They seem to put on sales when most of us are skint tho - I popped into the big Tesco near me and apart from a gimmicky fruit cider thing they said I had to buy it online - was not too happy when they then told me that they had loads of home brew stuff there near xmas time - the reason I wasn't too happy was because I had popped in a few times during crimbo time and nothing except the gimmicky fruit cider kits :nono:

Looks like my early prediction (page one) is going to turn out to be spot on.

Will we ever see another Tesco sale, i think its looking unlikely. :-(
