    How clean is clean?

I used to soak my clean bottles in Hypochlorite for 24 hours - Rinse and then rinse again in Sodium Metabisulphite. What a drag. I now wash rinse the bottles in the hottest water I can put my hands in with 'Fur Lined Marigolds' (Height of fashion):p, and leave to drip dry. No problems to date BB

    First TC

Ferment on my TC is now all but stopped. SG = 1000 Started at 1.042 - so I reckon around 5.6% Will let it go a few more days & then rack into another FV to let the lees settle - or would it be better to just let it settle in the first FV and bottle straight from there. Had a little taster -...

    First TC

Well, finally got my first batch of TC on the go. I used the 2 litre packs they have in the chillers - made from concentrated apple juice. 11 litres (drunk 1), 2 Teaspoons of Pectolase, 2 Teaspoons of Yeast Nutrient and 5 teabags in half a litre. 1 satchet of Cider Yeast. - All in the FV and...

    My wheat wine adventure

Yup - I got all excited making my first brew, which was from a kit - the instructions said - Add water up to 22.7 litres - I thought it meant add 22.7 litres of water. So the FV was filled to the brim  I had to take out some as the ferment was coming out the airlock. :o Still - the...

    WOW a bit slow

WOW is now on day 9 still fermenting very slowly - took an SG reading .099 and tastes a bit raw to say the least. Will probably add some syrup to the batch to sweeten a little. It is also somewhat clearer than the day before. Should I rack this to another DJ and stop the ferment with Potassium...

    Round 2

Hello Crastney Thats why I brewed the Red - won't get much in return - but at least it will not cost me a lot :) Reference the WOW that is taking a long time to stop - I see some of the more experienced Brewers on this Forum will put something in the WOW to stop it and assist with the clearing

    WOW a bit slow

Wow - did I say WOW was abot slow - well - Wow the WOW is now going like a train :o - just like a previous post said 'similar to a Lava Lamp'. It also reminds me of those Underwater Thermal Vents - amazing. If only I could harness the power and put a dozen DJs of WOW in the car :)
