HI, I have tended to rack into a 2nd fv and then leave it in a cold environment to help the particulates to drop out of suspension.
I tend to take my time leaving it to brew out for 3+ weeks then rack it off for 2-3 weeks before bottling. Results are good but it takes a bit of time.

Dear All
This kit has nicely brewed out. I am going to dry hop with EKG. Any one have any other suggestions? I want to keep it fairly traditional.
Many thanks

Dear All
Pitched 2nd October and now stuck at 1020. Any help gratefully received. I'll try the stir & keep it warm trick before I attempt to re-pitch any yeast.
Just want to know whether these kits have a habit of sticking and tricks to get them going again.
One I've got it going...
See my post in general discussions. I racked off a beer in October last year. It sat in the garage over winter and I only barrelled it last week.
It is superb. Well conditioned pub quality beer. Racking off & leaving it did it no harm at all.
I always leave beer in the primary...
Good point Covrich. I racked it the same time as a Dunkel late summer/early autumn when the fruit flies were at their peak form the rotten apples in the garden. I lost the Dunkel. It went off giving me 20 pints of rancid vinegar.
You're right about the initial aroma from dry hopping being...
Dear All,
I racked a batch of Brewferm summer ale in October last year and dry hopped it with cascade and goldings. I thought it had become infected and so I lost interest and it sat racked in the garage all winter. I took the lid off gave it a sniff & barrelled it last week.
Superb...
I am brewing this with brewferm bottom fermenting lager yeast. So far so good. I thought summer would be the ideal time as we rarely get weather warmer than the ideal working range for this yeast which is 11 - 15 oC.
No, I find the Brewferm yeast is a superb top fermenting yeast which brews and drops out very cleanly. It has left no bad flavours in any of the brews I have attempted.
I was wondering what hops would be recommended to create a belting IPA. My plan is to brew a kit IPA and give it an extra lift with extra malt and hop flavours.
Any ideas on the hops to use?
Thanks
Any advice on what dry hops to use for a light summer ale? I have some Cascade, Chinook, EKG and Styrian Goldings. Would they be any good to achieve a light & fruity aroma?
I brewed it to 20 litres and magically got a total of 55 bottles (330 ml) out of it. I'll work out the cost per bottle but much cheaper than the original from Courage. It took 2 months to brew out and I bottled it last week. Had my first proper taster yesterday. Incredible, the big daddy of all...
