    Are all camlocks created equal?!

I've got some SS from 3 different companies and all of mine fit together OK. You can tell which ones are from different companies when you put then together as some of mine are tighter than others to close but never had a leak or had any issues with then drawing in air. I've had some from...

    Coffee Stout

This is one thread which highlights why I sometimes find forums frustrating. A new brewer simply asks a question if adding beans to a kit is Ok to do, and some helpful users post a few alternatives and a discussion happens, this is the basis of a helpfully forum then ..... ...is posted...

    Coffee Stout

Also take a look at Cold Steeping, not something I've tried yet but its said to: So although you need this for a stout and not an Iced Coffee it should help give more of the coffee flavors as you should already be getting the roast from the kit...

    Imperial stout stuck fermentation

It might be that the yeast ran out of steam. Adding a new strain without making it into a big starter might not work. If you have another FV I would be tempted to brew another kit with some yeast that's known to be better with higher %. Then once that's finished pour your stout onto the yeast...

    Kegging and serving stouts

I normally use one based around Alemans Effin Oatmeal Stout as it depends on what malt I have to hand at the time. http://www.thehomebrewforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=25188 It depends on your set up, methods you wanted to use and how complicated you want to make your brewday but doing a...

    Kegging and serving stouts

I've kegged and forced carded a few stouts and poured through a normal tap with CO2 and there not bad, but not the same as a pub pour. I found that my oat stouts were a little better on CO2 as they were a bit silky'er and creamy'er so maybe adjust the recipe and mashing temps to aim for more...

    CAMRA members!

There is not much direct benefit to me on on a home brewing front as the campaign is more about steering politics and helping promote breweries, pubs and pub drinkers. The main benefit I get from CAMRA is the information on Breweries Tap take over nights, new beer launchs and where/ when the...

    Reducing plastic in homebrewing

Can you source your malts from somewhere that can make the recipe up for you. My local HBS sells malt in 10g portions and can bag up the whole recipe in one bag. I top up my Grain account when needed which works out at around 1.50 a kg. This kind of cuts back on plastic a little. This is an...

    Carbonating Bottle Tops

Looking for some help with finding some of the bottle tops in the photo below. I bought these a few years back and only used them a few times and now forgot where I got them from. After a lot of googling I cant find any again so not sure if they are still made. They came with the Widget...

    False Bottoms

It looks like Blichmann changed the diameter of the 15 Gallon Boiler pot which has changed the false bottle size. The 15 Gallon original version was called a G1 looks to be 15.6” (so 396mm, the one I have) and new version G2 is approx. 1/4 inch bigger so around 6mm. From the...

    False Bottoms

I drilled approx 20 ×3mm holes over it and used M3 x 30mm stainless steel bolts. So it stands around 30mm off the bottom. The gap around the edge is quite consistent at 1mm all round. I don't need to use any hose but if your grinding it smaller then it might be tricky to get it equal all...
