Had a lucky escape this morning

Are you sure you have a good seal on that f.v? I'm not sure I'm convinced. Nicely caught, when did you last check on it? If that was mine and swmbo saw it I think my HB would be banished to the garage.

    Black Rock IPA

So this was my first attempt at home brew, I did this kit with a can of malt extract as recommended by my LHBS as it will make it into a 'premium' beer as opposed to just a nice beer, I didn't have a hydrometer at the time of brewing so can't give readings or an accurate ABV, as it was my first...

    Wilco wine kits

Hi chippy tea I have topped it up with a litre of wgj and finished up with water, I figured it can't hurt it any, I did this about 20 mins ago and the airlock is going every 2 seconds as opposed to evey 30 or so beforehand. I have made a apple tc which was not bad and have a pear tc which I...

    Wilco wine kits

Sorry to hijack your post but I am doing a wilco wine kit too, but only the 6 bottle rose one ATM, I was thinking of topping up with water today as its been on the go since Saturday, so is it suggested to use a litre of tesco wgj? Or would rgj be better for he rose? Tia and apologies to must...

    Next Kit?

I agree with froidy, it depends on what you like, I made a Black Rock IPA with malt enhancer which is going down nicely, although I added too much sugar in the keg. I have also made the coopers wheat beer but only just bottled that after nearly 3 weeks fermenting (was a slow one). I intend to...

I would like to say its Heisenberg after the intelligent explanation but in actual fact it's breaking bad. Thanks for the replies I will bottle tomorrow  :hat:

    Final gravity of 1.012???

Hi there I have brewed a wheat beer with SG of 1056 and it seems to have stopped fermentation as it has been sat at 1012 for a week now, am I ok to bottle this now? I thought the gravity reading had to be at 1006 before bottling. TIA :hat:

    Moonshine

Hi all, I was at the galtres beer festival last week and we settled on a nice clear cider called 'moonshine' basically I was wandering if anyone knows where to get the recipe or if there s a kit to produce my own variation of this highly drinkable cider? Many thanks

    Festival limited edition golden ale.

Has anyone brewed this, it's at my LHBS and thinking of giving it a go, I'm a bit partial to Pale ales and stuff like golden pippin at the pub (when I go) and thought it might be nice to brew as I have heard good things about the festival kits. The only downside to a limited edition kit is what...

    Airlock

Thanks for the help guys, I think I will go for the Camden tablets in water option, always helps to get other people's methods, didn't fancy buying a bottle of vodka just to pour it away, thanks again

    Airlock

So I have seen people use either boiled cooled water or vodka in air locks, is there an advantage in using vodka? If so is there anything to stop me using rum? As I don't have any standard vodka (only the lime flavoured stuff) or would this be ok to use? T I A :thumb:

    Sloe Watch

I have a sloe bush/tree in my garden as pointed out by a friend, although I wouldn't know how many berries or weight I would need to make some gin, would be nice to figure out, I may trawl the Internet today for some recipes or instructions, at least if I pick them the birds won't be able to eat...
