    Stabaliser for 5 gallons

Hope I'm not being daft with this post. I've had 5 gals of the easy rose wine on the go. Should I stabilise it with Camden tablets, if so, how many. What I intended was to rack it off the fv into another one, chuck in the Camden tablets and then some finings after a few days, then put it...

    Starsan query

Thanks guys. So it really is as easy as that. As long as I spray everywhere, and test my spray bottle every now and then, I'll be ok. Just seems too good to be true. I've been used to chucking copious amounts of VWP in everything. Thanks once again.

    Starsan query

Guys, I know there's been threads on Startup before, but do I only use 1.5ml of the stuff in a ltr? Is that it? Am new to this and can't help thinking I've got this wrong. I've put my solution in a spray bottle, sprayed everything so it's covered and then left it. Is that correct or have I...

    TC advice

So, I got the bottles covered which is good. Looks like I've got the dry side covered. I'm a bit concerned with the timing of my brew. Started it last Monday I think. It's started to slow and I'm away for the weekend. Will this have any effect when I come to carbonation. Will I still get some...

    TC advice

Evening guys. After a long absence (and a longer divorce) it's time to get a brew on. I'm still really a newbie. I've got 23ltrs of TC on the go and have a couple of questions. I stewed three tea bags and added four/five teaspoons (I think) into the brew. I like my cider dry. Will this be dry...

    Trouble. Again!!!!!!

I have recorded the SG and added sugar somewhere. I hope I'm right in saying that I should leave the straining until the fermentation has stopped completely. I've been stirring the grapes every day so at least I got that right. If I sterilise a jug, should I risk scooping off the top. Any...

    Trouble. Again!!!!!!

I've had them in a bucket for about ten days. I initially threw in a Campden Tablet at the start then added the yeast etc. I have them in a fermenter with an airlock. The bubbles are down to about one every 5 or 6 mins or so. I'm a bit bothered about knacking the whole thing up by straining...

    Trouble. Again!!!!!!

Thanks Wendy. I was going to scoop off the fruit on the top and strain/press through a fine bag. Would you recommend against this. Am I right in saying that I should then press in a couple of Campden Tabs and then the finings. Sorry to be a pain.

    Trouble. Again!!!!!!

Guys, really sorry about this but I fear I have slipped up. I've had some black grapes, pressed them etc then added the yeast. I get a bubble in the airlock once every 5 mins or so. I believe I should have passed the skins through a strainer before fermenting. Is that correct. Is it ok to...

    Prune Turbo

How would ya know if you had a bad pint or if it was just the prunes kicking in? Bran flake wine anyone? :hmm:

    Own Grapes...

Hi all, I'm new to all this malarky. I've been given a box of black grapes by a mate and managed to get just over 2l out of them. They've been bubbling for just over a week now and I have a couple of questions. When I strain the contents through a bag, is it a problem if I get the sediment in...

    Confused

Thanks guys. Will play it safe.

    Confused

I've got just over two gallons of black grapes. An earlier post suggests I don't need to add yeast as the grape has its own natural yeast. All the other recipes state that I should add yeast and nutrient etc. One recipe advises that I should mash the grape, add crushed Campden Tabs and then add...
