    Too much headish

I am not new to brewing but a have a real problem with my latest brew of Coopers stout. The brew went fine and it has been sitting in a king keg for the last 3 weeks. I decided to try some last night and all I could draw off was a load of head and very little beer to the extent that all the gas...

Many thanks folks have installed the inkbird and it's working great keeping the fridge at 11 degrees +/- 1 degree.

    Barrels in a domestic fridge

I have 2 domestic fridges that I use to chill my king keys after they have conditioned for a couple of weeks. The only problem I have is that even on the highest setting they chill too efficiently and I always get chill haze to my beer. Is there any way I can others have used domestic fridges to...

    Head head and more head

Ihave a problemwith a woodfordes Wherry kit that I have brewed. the brew is as follows Standard brew fermentation finished after 8 days stood in fermenter further 10 days sg down to 1008. Transferred to top tap King Keg with 75g of cane sugar and stood at 18 degrees with a thermostatic belt for...

    Some newbie fermentation questions...

I agree with Covrich. I now barrel all of my beers after about 3 years of bottling which is too much hassle for me now. As the fermentation comes to an end keep an eye on the SG and anything around or below 1010 will be finished. However I am never in any hurry to move the beer from the...

    Woodfordes Wherry failure

I think I have been a little premature as another week conditioning has seen the flavour improve a little. I think I will leave well alone for another couple of weeks and see what the brew is like then.

glass bottles, PET bottles or pressure barrel?

I have tried glass bottles, crown cap pet and now use king kegs.I gave up on the glass bottles that my local pub provided as they seemed to put a lot of strain on my hand capper. I have about 60 crown cap PET bottles and use these mainly for my ciders. I have heard a few that feel the PETS are...

    Brew belt or heatpad

I inherited a number of brewing belts when I first started and agree they are a pain to regulate the temperature. A friend then lent me a thermostat from his reptile tanks and it works a treat. I have now bought 2 habistat thermostats which are accurate +-1 degree and i attach the probe to my FV...

    8gram nitrogen cartridges

I know its a bit late in the day but its worth trying a sparklet tap. I have one fitted on my king keg and it delivers a super pint every time. Its much like a bar tap and the nozzle is fully adjustable to account for the level of gas in the barrel. I now have them fitted to all my kegs.

    schrader value for pressure barrel

i spotted the Balihoo pressure barrel cap that includes a schrader valve to check the barrel pressure. I wondered if anyone has tried to replicate this. I have fitted a couple of pressure gauges to my barrels but thought this may be a cheaper option.

    Woodfordes Wherry failure

Perhaps Wherry is'nt quite suited to my taste. I did check the opening and closing SG which finished at 1008. I was more concerned that I had missed out the hop enhancement that some retailers say is included in the pack but clearly that is not the issue. I will leave it a little longer to see...

    Woodfordes Wherry failure

Hi everyone, I am new to the forum but have been brewing for about 12 months now mainly ciders but have done the occasional lager for family members. I bottle all my ciders but have recently bought 2 king kegs to try some real ales. Following the many good reviews i decided to try a...
