thanks for that, fellow slap ed! would you 2nd ferment after another week or finings in two days before bottling or just bottle? i normally brew for a week and a half then 2nd ferment for a week
:o i have had a wilco blonde lager in the FV for 8 days now and its still bubbling away like mad, i used normal granulated for the first time cos i read it on here and i had run out of brewing sugar, could that be a cause?? :wha:
nah, think i've read that the yeast isnt damaged until around 37 deg. anything between 18-28 is fine but the lower it is the longer fermentation will take.
i think the above post of wrapping a blanket or bubble wrap round it is good but 17.5 isnt ideal but i think it will ferment at that just a lot slower.......
different beer kits (and/or different finings) clear at different rates also factor in different values ie.temp. stored at . having said that some posts say they have done everything right but still wont clear!
got a crusader kegged and tasted superb last tasted! i 1st fermed for 8 days and 2nd fermed for 7 days then kegged....lovely!! been kegged for about 4 weeks
enjoy!
i racked two 40 pint brews today(both woodfords wherry). after i had done them i realised that i had prime sugared again and also put finings in again!
i usually leave it for a week in second fermentation but having done this is it better to leave a bit longer??
