The reason I can't use a stock-pot is that my good Lady doesn't like the smell of brewing hops/liquor, going through the house. (Which is unavoidable if I have to use the gas rings). Thus I brew outside or in the shed. This means either an electric thermostatically...

I am still feeling my way, but using a kettle element looks a bit too advanced for me. For one thing I can't solder! And there might be issues with safety, so I am going to do some heavy reading.

I saw a video on YouTube posted by 'Jimmy the brewer'.
It's apparent he made his own boiler from a suitable plastic bucket.
I fancy having a go at that myself, rather than buying a thermostatically controlled boiler ready made.
