    Home brewing history

I don't know if anyone else is interested in this, but my two interests are brewing and history so I thought i'd combine the two and write about it. PT100 fitting

If anyone's struggling with finding something to house a pt100 probe in a recirculating system, have a look at Angel Homebrew. I was speaking to Paul last night and he's listed a 1/2" - 1/4" reducing bush. The probe turns into the 1/4" one and then you can connect the 1/2" to a tee or...

    Brew in a basket?

Hi, I've been speaking to someone recently about making SS mesh grain baskets to replace regular brew in a bag bags. They would be to fit a 50l pot (the standard bergland 40cm diameter ones) and consist of a SS frame with feet and SS mesh with a handle at the top. He could make them bigger...

mini spur of the moment brewday

I was in Wilko yesterday and noticed they had one pack of yeast left. I had some malt in the shed and some hops in the freezer so put decided to make a 1 gallon all grain beer. I'm moving house soon so it's a bit manic and I've not had chance to brew this year. I missed having something...

    Enough yeast

I'm about to bottle a beer. It will have been sat at 1c for best part of 3 days and had gelatin added 2 days ago. Will there be enough yeast left to carbonate? I wouldn't be asking the question if it was just crash cooled, but the gelatin worries me a little. Thanks

    Clean bottles and de-labeling

Just cleaned a load of bottles. Most had labels on and although I try to rinse out a bottle after use, it appears I neglected this on a few occasions so a few had mould in them. I've tried a few things with bottles and just thought I'd share what i've found to be the easiest solution. I used...
