NEW! Festival Vienna Red Lager Beer Kit

Finally got round to doing this one. OG was 1044, FG was 1011. Put the hops in a hop bag as I didn't want mess - these were chucked in on day 12, 4 days before bottling. Instructions didn't appear to say how much sugar to put in bottles (I was going straight from FV to 500ml bottles) so I...

    Youngs American Amber Ale (AAA)

I managed to get mine down to 1008. Also, I only used half the bag of hops as I read on this forum that some people thought using the whole bag was a bit too hoppy. The resultant brew had a nice hoppy flavour, not too bitter. The rest of the hops? I'll use them with some other kit!

    Make your own.

A friend got me the Strawberry and Pear Cider kit from the 'Make Your Own' range for Christmas. I'd only ever brewed beer (from kits) before but I guess it was time my cider-drinking friends could sample some of my homebrewing! Instructions were easy to follow, although it didn't include...

    My First Wherry Brew!

I bottled my first Wherry mid-January and it's only now that they are fully carbonated and a great pint, with decent head. Although fermentation was really quick (7 days although I left it in the FV for a further 7 days), conditioning in bottles seems to have taken ages. Still, definitely one...

    Oxi Cleaner?

I use this one from Tesco http://www.tesco.com/groceries/product/details/?id=264711060 Appears to have a very slight chemical smell but rinses off easily so no smell.

    coopers new fermenter

I'm using the new Coopers FV, the one with the Krausen collar. It's not airtight like some other FVs but it's been good for 3 brews so far (Coopers Aussie Lager, St Peters Golden Ale and Wherry)

    Wherry

Thanks for posting this. I've got this conditioning at the moment and am confident it's going to be a good one so I've just bought another from Tesco. My first Wherry kit, I bought from Wilko's for £19.

    Started St Peters Golden Ale

I brewed this recently and found it an easy enough kit to do. Took a while to mature but now two months after bottling, it's an excellent beer with lots of flavour. I didn't use the full hop packet though, as I wasn't sure I wanted so much bitterness but it's hoppy enough for me. My friends...

    St Peters Golden Ale review

I brewed St Peters Golden Ale as my second brew so thought I'd share my results. OG was 1044, FG was 1012. 15 days in FV, 13 days in warm(ish...16 degrees), then put in the cold/garage. I got 35 bottles (500ml). I only used half of the hop sachet as wasn't sure I wanted so much bitterness...

    Advice for a gift please!

I too started with the Coopers DIY Kit and would recommend it - it has everything you need from brewing to bottling, with the only thing missing being steriliser.

    New brewer - advise need.

My first brew was with the Coopers DIY Kit. For bottling (500ml bottles), I experimented by using Coopers drops (1 drop) for half the bottles and half a teaspoon of table sugar (granulated) for the other bottles. Both carbonated ok but the ones with normal sugar carbonated better, gave the beer...

    Sampling my first brew

It's been over 5 weeks since I decided to try my hand at my first home brew. Finally couldn't resist trying a bottle (or three!) and I must say I'm quite pleased with the results! So, Coopers Australian lager, OG was 1047, FG was 1014. 16 days in FV, 14 days in warm (19 degrees), a...

my first brew. has it stalled?

Mine was 1014 when I bottled it after 16 days in the FV but it was clear and not sweet.

    Coopers Lager

The piece of paper that came with my kit suggested just putting in one drop per 500ml bottle....I'll let you know in 4-5 weeks' time if there's enough fizz! :D

Should Beer be Flat when I bottle it?

Hi all First post here and a complete newbie to home brewing! Have found this forum most useful already. Unlike the girls at work who are all trying to brew wine, I've decided to take on the boys and brew beer! :-P I'm brewing the Coopers Aussie Lager (bought the full kit), pitched the...
