    Yeast strains from commercial beers?

Has anyone successfully cultivated any yeast strains from commercial beers? If so which ones? As I understand it even though a beer may be bottle conditioned it does not necessarily mean that one can cultivate yeast because it may go through a process which sadly kills the yeast. It would be...

    Yeast Vitality question

I have a question. How long will harvested yeast survive in the fridge? If as brewersfriend states that yeast loses 20 percent of its vitality after a month, that means that if five months it twill be dead! Gulp! Is this really the case and if so can anything be done? Perhaps it can be...

    hop filters

How do you guys filter your hops? At present I pass my entire wort through a fine mesh sieve. I used to use a hop spider but read that it was better to let the hops flow about the wort by convection current.

    Brewlab yeast slopes

GW says that these are superior to liquid yeast as they are cultured under brewery like conditions. The directions for use are to make a 300ml starter, pour some into the vial, shake it to remove the yeast strains from the wort based medium and culture it up. I was just wondering but 300ml...

yeast cultivation and style of beer

Great ones! A thousand greetings to you and yours. I have a question that needs some wisdom. I think that the best way to cultivate yeast is not from washing it off the trub or cultivating samples from the krausen but when making a starter. You make your starter and pour off a little before...
