    CraigTubes English Style Porter.

I am sure that many of the members on here have, at some time, seen videos by Craig Farraway on his YouTube channel CraigTube. I am a subscriber to his channel and came across a video he did back in 2012 where he put together a recipe that he hoped would create an English Style Porter. The...

    First AG Brew Has Arrived.

The day has come for my first ever AG brew. I am brewing Old Speckled Hen based on the recipe from Graham Wheeler. I have made a few adjustments to the grain bill so as to match the Colour, Bitterness and ABV. This is due to the colour (EBC) of my grains not matching those used in Graham's...

    Mash PH Adjustment.

I am going to be doing my first all grain brew in the next few days but the one thing that I am not comfortable with yet is adjusting the PH of the mash should I need to. I was never any good at science at school so looking at charts etc is like reading a foreign language. All I want to know...

    Brew Starts Fermenting Again?

Yesterday my Coopers Stout was bubbling every 30 mins or so. I decided to to do a gravity reading and it read 1.006. I planned to bottle today but when I checked the FV it was back to bubbling every 5 mins or so. My question now is should I leave it a bit longer or go ahead and bottle it?

    Confused about water.

I am hoping to start all grain brewing but after reading many discussions on water in the forums I am beginning to think I may be best off sticking to kits. So many people saying add this and that and don't do this or that. Our water supply is Very Soft according to the water...

    Using Sodium Metabisulphite For Sterilisation?

I was talking to the owner of my local home brew shop yesterday about the various things used for sterilising equipment. I mentioned Star San being a no rinse sterilising agent and he started talking about Sodium Metabisulphite. He said that he used it all the time and also said that, like...

First Brew After A Few Years Away.

So I am back brewing after a few years away. I have started a simple brew using a can of Coopers Stout, 500g of Youngs Dark Spraymalt and 500g of Better Brew Brewing Sugar. This will do for now while I get my all grain setup together. I will be starting on some DIY in the shed to house things...

    Hello To You All

Just joined today. Looking forward to re-introducing myself to the pleasures of home brewing. It has been a long time since I brewed anything due to work and family life. I have more time now so off I go again. There were no forums like this when I brewed before so this will be invaluable to me.
