where can you get the ph strips from. i think the temp whilst mashing is the reason why my gravitys are too low as well. above 70 and sparged with much hotter. oh well there is always next time. mine is bottled now and just waiting.

it wasa ringwood best clone kit from worchester hop shop so the grain was set. i may have messed up with the water quantity, i dont know, the aim was to finish with 23l with that grain count. when i do my next i will deff measure the water i use.

Have a go at simple AG

wow thanks for that info, my grain was around 4kg, i guessed that was the problem. i started with 32litres so 3 for boil 29, 4 for grain 25, trub loss 2l 23, but i ended up with 15.5 ltrs. unless i didnt measure the 32 correct. i filled the burco boiler to max then took out enough to allow...

Have a go at simple AG

i looked at my pics i took whilst doing the brew and i think the problem was the grain soaking up a lot of the original water before the final boil. the pic of the final boil showed a not quite half full 32l pot. also tis stopped bubbling after a few days and the room is warm enough so that the...

    30l electric boiler

no its not a stupid question, this is how every one learns from mistakes or bad pratices. ok here goes i measured out 32 litres of water in my burco boiler, if i added the 4kg of grain it would overflow. so i drain of about 10 litres say into my ss pot with tap. and get that upto temp to...

about 70 mins i did forget to time it accurately. i did have some wastage when i emptied the 32l mashing boiler. but it was only say 1/2 litre. i did have the lid off when i was doing the final boil as it kept boiling over. ive treated myself now to a 7kw gas burner as this was done on a...

ok ive just done my 3rd all grain brew Ringwood best from worchester hop shop. 23 litres started out with 32 litres of water, kept that amount to use throughout the process. ended up with 15litres in the fermenting bin, can i top this up with water or will it dilute the mix. i am amazed how...

cheers clibit, i will try that method, as i do have 2 other 32l stock pots, one with a tap on it. when i used one on the cooker to do the 1st ever all grain it didnt go well, which is why i used the boiler as it was much faster. when i do the ringwood best i will let you know how it goes :D
