Whats the longest you've waited before giving up on a wine

I've just tried my Blackberry/Elderberry (75%/25%) for the last time, I made it in December 2016. still tastes like grass. My 100% Elderberry is even older, and I think the same may happen (I tried it a while ago, and it was vile) Anyone wasted more time/effort than this? Could be my taste I...

Anyone used 3L Beverage Pouches for wine?

both pouches empty, cleaned, and ready for re use. Easily the best thing I've ever used and made bottling so much easier. How long they last will be key I guess, the tap only takes one click (BIB were 2 clicks if I remember correctly) so hope to get 3-4 uses

Kenridge Classic Trilogy and higher end kits

I've tried 2-3-4-5 months plus (leaving the odd bottle), and I'll be honest, I can't see any improvement on most kits sub £80, there just isn't enough juice to develop 'body' like commercial wine. The Kenridge Classic (Trilogy, now Shiraz) seems just as nice at 1/2 months as it does at 3+...

Kenridge Classic Trilogy and higher end kits

just sampling a Kenridge Classic Shiraz, and it's even better than the Trilogy ! Only 1 week old, but there was half a bottle from my batch because I used some new wine pouches too

Anyone used 3L Beverage Pouches for wine?

Well they came, and I tried two. So easy compared to those BIB monstrosities. Filled 19.5 bottles, and 2 pouches. Time will tell how they last/re-use, but great so far to make bottling a little easier (I can only fit 20 bottles in my carry box to the kitchen to garage). You just lay them on...

    Kenridge classic

Am also finding KenridgeClassic to be the sweet spot. Only 8 or 9 quid more than beaverdale/CC, and infinitely better. They aren't far behind some of the £60 and £80 kits I make, so I have almost stopped making those.

Anyone used 3L Beverage Pouches for wine?

my mate uses these, they are brilliant, but i still like bottles !

Anyone used 3L Beverage Pouches for wine?

i totally agree, and I love the sight of 28 bottles lines up and ready to go, dates and typ written on with white pen (I dont label), and when I bring wine boxes home from France I 100% drink more (just one more glass = 25% of a bottle that you otherwise wouldnt have opened) but I thought I'd...

Anyone used 3L Beverage Pouches for wine?

sorry chippy, i meant i had splits and leaks with bag in box, plus the bags are aweful to work with when full. my neighbour has never had a leak so im going to try a couple, maybe 2 or 3 per kit so im only cleaning 20 bottles max.

First Wow wine brew. (not good)

I experimented with WOWs, and made some great drinkeable stuff - all learning, as you point out. Wouldn't make one again though, once you are confident with sterilisation, bottling, racking, modern kits are the way forward to making wine that tastes 'shop bought'

Shop bought water for wine kit

same as chippy, these kits are 28 bottles, not 30 - it's a complete marketing ploy! (followed to the letter, you will not get 30 bottles). I did however notice a big difference moving to bottled water, costs about £2 more ! Much nicer

Anyone used 3L Beverage Pouches for wine?

My neighbour stores/gives away all his red in these : https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3-Litre-Beverage-Pouch-with-Tap-for-Juice-Wine-Cider/183392849874?hash=item2ab310cfd2:m:mIXaZQzNeqDetKBeiNgpQ2g:rk:3:pf:0 Has anyone used / reused them? they arent cheap, compared to bag-in-box, but I hate those...

    Wine Kit reviews please

i posted some ramblings not long back about about red wine kits, and spending £30 vs £40 vs £46 vs £60 vs £80 on the kit, and my findings. Have a look, if you click on my name it should list the **** I've posted recently I think? p.s Beaverdale is nice, but Kenridge Classic is amazeballs...

Kenridge Classic Trilogy and higher end kits

its purely down to the volume of actual juice provided i think. The Atmosphere kit was 16 litres and is huge! some of the mad expensive eclipse kits are 18L i think

    Conical fast fermenter

thanks everyone, ill compare these alternatives. i wont need pressure as its just for wine.

    Conical fast fermenter

my neighbour has been getting a Conical fast fermenter, no more racking. He said it's a game changer, but expensive at £80+ stand . Sediment drops into a removable 'ball' which you remove and clean, and onto stage 2. Anyone got one? Al

Kenridge Classic Trilogy and higher end kits

Been dabbling with spending more than I can afford, to see what is decent - and here goes: Atmosphere Amarone, £80 - beat 100 other kits in a blind taste test (some were £200 ish). as you'd expect, this is unreal. Better than any commercial wine. Have made x2 30 bottle kits and recently took 10...

    Blackberry wine question

my blackberry wine was amazing after a year max, brewbitz recipe. Elderberry on the other hand (and blackberry/elderberry mix) tastes like dog **** after 2 years, will try again after 3. Never again.

    Wine making

Best of luck, you are in good hands with the forum and Chippy_tea, most of my techniques are pinched off him. My next door neighbour reckons Cellar 7 are best for fruity whites, he gives me the odd bottle and its not my thing but I actually love it. taste of peach !!!! (I only make red, an the...
