    Balliihoo Keg Problem

The float is on the top of the beer (it floats) and needs pressure in the barrel to push the beer out. Give it a couple of weeks and it'll be great 😀

New to Brewing - Ginger Beer (and searching)

If you didnt use any dme it'll work out about the same. I used a kilo of dme and 500g of sugar for 12.5 liters. So 200g for 1.75 liters works out just under that.... It'll be strong though :thumb:

New to Brewing - Ginger Beer (and searching)

I brewed my first ginger beer this weekend. I used 1kg malt extract with 500g ginger, juice and zest of a lemon and a lime and about 150g of honey. I also added 500g brown sugar. Boiled it for about 30 min in a couple of liters of water before straining it and topping up to roughly 12 liters...

    Trying biab

Bought one :) Don't think it'll arrive in time for my next brew day, but I also invested in a pulley and rope system to lift the bag out, so hopefully the brew after will be my first biab experience

    Trying biab

Hi guys I've been doing 3v all grain for a few brews, but have recently invested in a 50l kettle with false bottom. So it now occurs to me that I should probably give biab a go ( and hopefully have less clean up). My question is where's the best place to buy a bag??? Theres loads for sale all...

    All grain kits

Hi, I've done 5 all grain brews so far. I've just binned the remainder of my 1st attempt, as it turned out pretty nasty! but the others have turned out great. These kits can be a bit pricey (especially when you add postage). Does anyone know of a reasonably priced supplier, or is it time...

    First brew

Hi sunners, is your garage really cold like mine? If so a heat mat may not be enough to get your beer to ferment out there. You may want to bring it inside if you dont see any activity

It's kegged. I did a hop tea and added both the tea and the bag of hops to the keg . Hopefully this'll give it some flavour.

    bland ruby ale

Thanks guys, I think I'll drop in some bagged hops and see if that makes the difference.

    bland ruby ale

Happy xmas boys and girls Fortunatley I did two brews for xmas. I did a lovely stout (my second AG brew) and a Ruby Ale (my first attempt). The ruby ale is really bland! I know the mistakes that I made with the ruby ale, so I dont have any questions about why its so bland, but I have a king...

    Brewing classes?

I started AG a few months ago. I found Youtube very useful for watching the process, and this forum really reassuring and helpful when doubting myself (or just plain green /inexperienced/stupid). But my biggest learning tool is brew day.

    Belgian brew / yeast starter

I'm planning to brew a beligian blonde I've got the ingredients from Malt Miller, it is one of their ingredient kits (based on "Revvy's Blonde" recipe). except for the yeast because they were out of stock, so I've ordered Mangrove Jacks Belgian Ale yeast from elsewhere as a substitute. My...

    Boil over

Hi Guys and Girls, I'm planning to do my second all grain brew day tomorrow, a guinness clone to go with my ruby ale for xmas beer stocks. I'm using the brupaks 29l plastic boiler (I know, I need a larger one... maybe in the new year), and I learned very quickly that it boils over. My...

Newbie to all grain needs advice

expected 1.050 ... I thought that it would drop the gravity when topped up. But I'm guessing that I should still get a 4(ish)% beer in the end??? It smells good, so I'm hoping that it tastes good when its done :-?
