    Beer Fermentation Question

I tried my 1st bottle this week. Really surprised as its my first ever beer brew. Nice taste, plenty of bubbles, BUT I had problems stopping the yeast moving from the bottom of the bottle. (Tried pouring it slowly) Will the yeast settle properly over time?

    Beer Fermentation Question

More advice please. I have now bottled and kegged the beer. How long do I need to leave it in a warm place? I have read that it is 2 days on one forum, and another it is saying 2 weeks.

    Beer Fermentation Question

I have left the brew going on the hotplate at 20 degrees for 2 weeks. I have checked the SG over the last 2 days and am only getting 1002. Where have I gone wrong? Do I leave it on the hotplate for another 2 weeks to see if it changes? (The FV is still building up pressure as when I gently touch...

    Beer Fermentation Question

Thanks for the replies. The lid seems to be sealed ok as when I press gently on it the bubbles increase rapidly. I will leave it for a week and see how it goes.

    Beer Fermentation Question

I have just started my first ever beer brew. (A 40 pint cerveza kit from Wilko). For the first 36 hours the airlock was bubbling rapidly every few seconds. I started the brew around 48 hours ago, but the airlock has slowed down and now is only bubbling around once every 4 to 5 minutes. Is this...

Speed of fermentation - Rose V White

I have had similar. My 1st brew was a peach wine, the 2nd Zinfandel, both fermented similar to your white. The last one is a black cherry which is going like a rocket. All 6 bottle kits.

7 day wine kit advice needed

I have managed to drink 3 bottles and bottled the rest - Another question - When I did my last wine brew before this (20 years ago) I think I missed putting the stabiliser into the wine, consequently all the corks popped out of the bottles and I lost the lot. I have put this batch into screw top...

7 day wine kit advice needed

Took the wine off the hotplate just over a week ago, cleared and settled. Tried a small glass today- lovely. Just wondering how long can I leave it in the Demijohn before bottling? I haven't enough bottles yet and don't fancy drinking 6 bottles worth over a few days.

    wakey homebrew shop shutting down

I have been to the guy at Brighouse. Unfortunately quite a bit dearer than Morley. Example Definitive wine kit 8.99 at Morley, 10.99 at Brighouse. TBH its worth me travelling the extra distance to Morley.

    Informal interview.

Another couple of tips - Try to find out as much as he can about the company /place where he is applying. Asking how they felt the interview went at the end is always useful whether getting the job or not. Good luck.

7 day wine kit advice needed

ok Good point. Yes I've seen the wow recipes. I have started these 2 x 7 dayers just to make sure that I am doing things right after a 20 year break. Being a Yorkshireman and careful with money, for my next brew I am going to try the Rose recipe as it will work out a lot cheaper than a kit.

anyone still using orange email. .

I have an Orange email account. Just a word of caution to anyone else having one. It has taken me over 3 hours on the internet contacting/logging into services providers (RAC, Gas, Home and Car Insurance etc) and changing over to my new e mail address. Many companies auto-renew with insurance...

Thanks Chippy. I thought that 7 days would not be long enough. I'll leave it a couple more days as you suggest then take a reading.

7 day wine kit advice needed

I have just started making wine after a break of over 20 years, so have virtually forgotten everything I learnt back then! I have 2 x 7 day wine kits fermenting on a hotplate. The 1st one has been on for 10 days and the airlock is still bubbling but only about once every minute. Is now the time...
