    brexit still on?

So I went back to the original thread but it has been locked. I stated then that democracy is dead, and the powers that be will not allow you to leave. With the recent info about turning it around....does anyone think you have been shafted? Just curious cause regardless of populism etc...if...

    Muntons vs Coopers

So I picked up a case of Coopers cans today, and the owner of the HBS I shop at asked me if I had tried Muntons. No...the other brew store also doesnt carry it so I have no experience with it. Any of the kit brewers here have any thoughts on the two products? Thanks for any insight. Dave

    help

A while back, I read something about adding flavour to your beer kit by using added grains. No big surprise there, but if I remember correctly, the grains were cracked, boiling water poured on them, then they were put in the fridge overnight??? Then they were added to the kit the next day. Im...

    Chronical

So I am looking at purchasing a SS Brewtech Chronical. I have been told that you can basically ferment and bottle from this vessel without having to rack off as the trub is removed from the bottom. Does this sound right? When I asked the company, their answer was kind of vague...

So Im in NZ for a bit of an extended holiday, and now have a chance to try some beers I otherwise would never get to try. Last night I tried a Coopers extra stout...( I brew their products at home ) and that was really nice. Anyone been here before and tried anything I should keep an eye out...

    Italian cornies

As I sit and wait for some cornies to come available in my neck of the woods I have read that Italian Cornies are more sought after. Why is that? (if true) To me a metal container is a metal container, but I would rather ask questions than to remain stupid.....

    going corney

Well I have decided that over the next couple months I am going to build a kegerator. While looking at the various parts needed, I am realizing that there are as many companies making parts as there are beer drinkers. The one part that has me concerned is the actual faucets as they have the...

Just about to put a few gallons of cider on ( from store juice ) and have seen recipes that call for champagne yeast (lalvin ec118) and other calling for ale yeast. Any thoughts on which one? Or is it down to taste? cheers

    confused

Since I got back into brewing, I went with kits as that is the only history I have with brewing, and for the most part...pretty fool proof. So the kits I have access to are the Coopers kits and I have found them to be quite good (certainly drinkable) SO here is my dilemma. I recently found that...

    Conical fermenters

So Im starting to look around at conical fermenters. There are a few companies that make them, but the 2 that seem to stand out is Blichmann and SS Brewtech. Does anyone have any thoughts on one vs the other? A bit of a confession first...I currently brew kits at this point, but the larger ones...

    piccalilli recipe

So I was mentioning to my mrs the other day that I havent had piccalilli in ages and need to make some. Anybody on here have a recipe they swear by? I googled some recipes, but there seems to be as many recipes as there are Brits...( not that there is anything wrong with Brits...) I...

    hop additions

So I have a few kit brews under my belt (Coopers) and think I need to try adding some hops to play with the flavours a bit. I generally brew stout and the dark ale from Coopers and am wondering what type of hops I might try that would enhance the beer. I think I will look at the hop tea or...

    priming a stout

Just getting ready to bottle 10L of stout and 20L of a dark brown ale and was wondering if people have a preference for which sugar they would use for priming a stout. Last time I used corn sugar and was not unhappy with the results. Any thoughts? Cheers Dave

    Tap style

Not sure if this is the right forum...or title, but here goes. When I was last in England, I noticed quite a few of the pubs I visited had taps that the barman had to pump to get the beer out. ( not unlike a well head for water ) What is the purpose/ why do they have them??? I thought the CO2 is...

    Toucan Lager

After reading about doing some "Toucan" Coopers kits I thought I would give it a go. A local store had Coopers Lager on sale so I picked a couple up and thought what the heck. Being a noob, I don't have much to compare it to ( used to brew years ago...but what I produced was pretty bad ) Two...

    corny kegs

Just looking around online at corny kegs and noticed that there are pin and ball type systems. Are there problems with one or the other, or does it matter? If I am going to look into these systems, thought I might start looking for any problems in advance Cheers as always Dave
