    No chill assistance appreciated

Update My first no chill was an AG ESB which is now 1 week into fermentation. I've just made my first extract brew in which I used first wort hops in a Muslim bag for 30 mins boil time and then removed these at flame out. Flavour/aroma hops I added directly to the "cube" this made transfer to...

    No chill assistance appreciated

I kettle hop additions of, 40 minutes 0 minutes and - 10 minutes. I then transfer this to my no chill container using a funnel however this was tricky because the hops continually blocked the funnel. As I'm doing stove top boils in a 14l pot at present I had to pour the wort as It doesn't...

Lots of yeast but little attenuation

Thanks for the replies guys. I have calibrated my hydrometer using water and have adjusted for this in my measurement, also there wasn't much trub in the sample taken. It could be old yeast and as it was from a Woodfordes Wherry kit it could be the case of a stuck fermentation as is common...

Lots of yeast but little attenuation

I made my first extract beer, no kit involved, over Christmas. 500g muntons light dme boiled in a gallon of water treated with Camden tablet for an hour. Hop additions 5g a 60m 5g at 15 an 5g 5m. I rehydrated a 6g sachet of wherry yeast thinking that would easily ferment 1 gallon. I didn't...

SP 1.018 - time to bottle or stuck fermentation?

Well it had 4 weeks in the FV, also added a pack of dried yeast, only later to read that I would've needed to make some sort of starter, so the yeast probably died! Took a gravity reading on Thurs/Friday/Sunday (4 weeks in FV) and it was down to 1016. I figured this is probably as low as I'm...

SP 1.018 - time to bottle or stuck fermentation?

It's had since Monday evening with the increased temperature at 21c, so I plan on taking a gravity reading this evening. If it's not dropped, I'll add the 100g of sugar as advised with a gentle stir and another week at 21c. Hopefully that'll do the trick :-) If not like you said I've done my...

SP 1.018 - time to bottle or stuck fermentation?

Thanks for the advice, hadn't thought to give it a stir. Will try that with some heat for a few more days and see where we end up. (then I'll bottle it regardless)

SP 1.018 - time to bottle or stuck fermentation?

Hi I've recently made a Woodfordes NOG kit, I brewed this short from 40 pints down to 32. I have an immersion heater for maintaining fermenting temps, which was working wonderfully until I discovered it had been unplugged at some point during the 2 weeks in the primary FV. At this point it...
