    i started 5L of red Lidl grape juice on 23rd feb at 1070 sg. it stopped fermenting last week and i added more sugar. tonight after fermenting has stopped i measured it again and it red 840 sg, checked it 5 times and it reads the same. i used the calculator on here and it said ABV 30.5%...

    this is my worry, i opened the lid of the bucket and it was full of foam, next day was nothing, its an old bucket so i don't know if it is airtight, but, i let the air in anyway, did i kill it? :roll:

    sorry for coming in on your thread, i 3/4 filled 2 DJs and had a bit of squirtage through the air lock, there is quite a bit of scum now around the shoulders and nech is it ok to top up or should i transfer it to another sterile DJ?

    i told my mate in work yesterday that i had found this site and although having dabbled with home brew, was about to embark on marathon attempt at making the excellent recipes on here. his reply was "get it wrong and you might go blind" Really? is this true or is it an old wives tale to stop...

    hi thanks for that, to give you an idea, it whooshed around the bung and ferment was over in 4-5 days, SG is 1000 and tastes like vinegar, i suspect game over but as my son in law bought the ingredients i was hoping to ressurrect it rather that bin it as i will have to replace it. :?

    when i tried it it has gone sour, i put a tatty cork on the air lock and didn't seal the DJ properly. is it possilble to re-sweeten and re-ferment? many thanks for any info.
