    Cornies - what next

OK - got two of the small Cornies from Norm, picked up a cylinder of CO2 from Oak Farm Gas (£18, no deposit for cylinder) and all the appropriate lines, disconnects etc. I get the process of connecting all the bits together - regulator to the cylinder (I trust the red disk thingy is a washer...

    Conditioning time and sweetness

Having drunk a bottle of my Coopers Euro lager less than two weeks in the bottle, it got me thinking about conditioning time and the flavour impact of the priming sugar. The lager tasted fab but I'm sure there was a hint of sweetness to it. Presumably the sugar will take a while to ferment out...

    Busy Day!

Racked a Beaverdale Barolo, Beaverdale Muscadet (with 1/2kg of garden grown grapes to add a bit of blush), and a Calif Con Merlot. All tasted lovely at this stage (first rack). Bottled a Beaverdale White Burgendy. Kicked off a White Zinfandel kit and knocked up a quick batch of Easy White...

He mentions (as an alternative) to soldering the plug cable to the element connections to use a Hot Condition...

Had my first home brewed lager - holy cow!

Made up a Youngs lager from the brew buddy kit. Bottled last weekend into 1/2 pint Stella bottles and a few old 500ml Coke bottles (for testing purposes honestly). Anyway, the Coke bottles felt fairly hard so lobbed one in the fridge for quality control purposes. Oh my god! I was expecting...

    Holiday's etc

So...any ideas for a wine that won't mind being in the fermenter for a month or so? Bearing in mind that's just the first stage and it might take me while after that to collect enough bottles...! I'm away for most of August - so would be good to be able to kick something off before I go that...

    Hello from Slough

Hi Everyone! Just getting into this home brewing malarky. It all started with a beer kit I got for Father's day a couple of years ago and finally got around to making. It wasn't at all to my taste (Youngs bitter). I then had a go at Turbo cider which was much better, and since then I've now...
