    Buffalo Thermal Cut-out

Just been reading an old thread about isolating the thermal cut-out on a Buffalo boiler. The author doesn't accept PMs but there was talk of unscrewing the pink sensor attached to the underside of the element. Any idea whether this worked? This was the thread...

I am taking a look through this book and notice that most of his recipes require the addition of sugar. At what stage in the process is this added? Many thanks.

    Making the Boiler

Ok, I'm going to give it a go! One area I'm finding difficult is the ball valve and hop-straining arrangement (want to do the wire pipe method). Can anyone direct me to the exact items I need? The BES website is huuuuuuuuuge! i.e ball valve, piping and means of connecting these together. Thanks

Setting up AG equipment - boiler?

Would this be good for mash/sparge water? Could I disconnect the tap and replace it with a ball valve so I can attach some tubing which will go to the mash tun? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/USED-BURCO-20 ... 500wt_1378 Also, looking for a boiler; the Brupaks one is £165 - are there any others...

Bought a few cans of Coopers LME to add to various brews. Someone elsewhere on this forum (can't find the thread) said that it needs a boil; is this correct?

    Secondary Fermentation

Just about to do my first partial. Thinking towards the secondary....do I just syphon the wort off the yeast cake into a clean FV and leave it? If so, what fermentables are left? Enough? Or do I give it a stir and transfer? And how long in the 2nd FV before bottling/kegging? Thanks.

Cooling Wort By Topping up with Water

Toying with venturing into BIAB. One of the recipe's I'm looking at boils about 3 gallons, cools using a wort chiller then tops up with water to 5 gals when in the fermenter. Why can't you cool the wort to pitching temperature by the addition of cold top-up water? :wha: :wha:
