    Wine in a corny keg..??

Thanks for the reply wilsoa1111. Looks like I will need to look into the methods of making wine to make sure I don't mess it up in a big bucket ;-) pittsy - good point about the corny being tied up for 6 months. Clearly that is unacceptable and would mean a drop in beer output. I hadn't...

    Wine in a corny keg..??

Hi, Firstly I should point out that I have never made wine before, but I have made many beer kits. Hence the question as I have got a pretty decent corny setup with co2 etc etc etc. I was wondering if I could make wine like I make beer, as in using the same kit. Bucket to ferment and then...

    Regulator Pressure

Not sure if I have read you're post correctly but with my reg, when the tank valve (the big knob on the co2 tank) is OPEN and the regulator valve (usually a thumb screw) is CLOSED that would mean its letting gas through to the keg. When the reg valve is OPEN (ie unscrewed) the valve is closed...

Think I just ruined a brew....

UPDATE! I had a quick sample yesterday to see how it was going since its been in the corney for 2 weeks I figured if it was going to go off it would have by now. Happy to report that its absolutely fine! A little cloudy still (I expected that, its only youing after all!) but tasted great...

Think I just ruined a brew....

Thanks for the replies guys. Its been nearly 24 hours so I guess if somethings going to happen its probably too late to try the sugar thing. I'll certainly remember that for next time.....although I hope there wont be one!!!!! Think I'll leave it and see what happens.......

Think I just ruined a brew....

I am very annoyed with myself, trying to hurry to keg a brew into a corney I filled it, closed the lid and then proceeded to force carb it as usual. But I forgot to blast in some co2 whilst keeping the PRV open to get rid of the O2. So I have just forced carbed a load of O2 into my beer along...

    Info Needed

Interesting looking thing! Is that effectively a keg in the bottom of it? Does it have a 'gas in' connection on it somewhere? Some more details would be helpful unless someone on here has seen one before! Where did you get it?

    Muntons Gold Continental Pilsner

Well worth it mate. I'm definitely going to do another one of these very soon. Really crisp nice beer straight from the fridge!

    Milestone brewing kit

Not tried one myself, but I'd agree with you about it being more of a guideline. The tins should be fine but as you mentioned might be worth sticking some new yeast in there although if its all foil packed that too *should* be ok. So, I haven't answered your question after all that, sorry!

    Just bought a big fridge...Added Photo's!

JG = John Guest Fitting T JG = 'T' shape John Guest fitting I force carb mine straight after kegging them which means the beer is usually around the 16-18 degree mark. I think beer is supposed to absorb more co2 when chilled but I have found it fine for my taste. I prefer my beers not too...

    Just bought a big fridge...Added Photo's!

Aleman - you really know how to burst someone's bubble  Yes, taps next on the list :thumb: The annoying thing is that the shelves on the top won't quite go low enough for the bottles! At some point I need to make a top shelf that sits about 5mm below the shelf guides on the side of...

    Just bought a big fridge...Added Photo's!

Finally got round to drilling a hole for the gas! So, I now have gas bottle on the outside and cornys inside. As I am force carbonating I have also left a 'tail' free on the outside using a T JG connecter in front of a JG valve so that I can shut off the supply to the keg in the fridge and...

    Bottle pislsner not great?

Yes I did. Left it for approx 5 weeks and the pilsner is great, crisp and clear. Its quite possibly I did disturb the yeast in the bottle...I'll admit I wasn't as careful as I should have been when puring.... I think, as a test, I'll crack open another one, very carefully, and try...

    Bottle pislsner not great?

Thanks all. I'll leave the remaining 5 bottles for a while longer and try it again. Certainly didn't taste 'off' just nothing like what I'm drinking from the keg! I left the bottles at room temp for 2 weeks so should be fine for conditioning. Been in fridge ever since. Cheers for that...

    Bottle pislsner not great?

Made Muntons Gold Continental Pilsner (see here http://www.thehomebrewforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=58&t=23005 I put the majority in a corney and then managed to get 6 bottles filled with the remainder. This is my first go at bottling after some good results kegging. The pilsner from the keg is...

What do you store your bottles in?

I managed to snag some crates from a friendly local milkman that delivers to one of my neighbours. In return for a couple of bottle obviously..... They are not quite tall enough for the bottles so they dont stack that well but that can be sorted with some carefully placed 'bits of wood'...

    Muntons Gold Continental Pilsner

I have to say that this just keeps getting better and better. I will definitely be getting another one of these going ready for summer!

    Muntons Gold Continental Pilsner

Right, after a month in the corney in the fridge I have tried a couple of pints. Very nice I have to say. Smooth tasting and definitely 'continental' tasting. Even the missus liked it....which isn't such a good thing, means it'll go quicker :( This was my second attempt at force...
