Temperature Controlling Fermentation for Larger Volumes

Vossy, what have you done to control each individual fermenter? or did you not bother in the end?

    is AG worth the expense?

Go BIAB, check out biabrewer (google it) they have a section known as stovetop or minibiab. If you can make a 10L pot of stew and brew kit beer, you can minibiab. Most BIAB systems are low cost and pretty straight forward, then of course there is the other end of the scale (braumeister), I...

    Corny Keg no pressure release

Pressure release valves are a luxury really. You don't need them. I've seen these go up to 100+ PSI and realistically if you're getting to that level you're doing it wrong and you'll be firing foam.

    Oak casks

Did you get the 5L one from there also? I've been looking for a small oak barrel for my beer brewing as I don't want to put a full batch in only to find I've oaked it too long. Also, how much are they usually?

    Hoppy Pale Ale

I have the same problem with break, smaller batches do seem to generate a lot more break material than larger ones. They probably odn't but because it is such a small amount you notice it less

Using Oak Whisky Barrel Chips - My Thoughts...

Watching this with interest. I wanted to go n get a small oak pin to do some ageing with but gave up on the idea due to cost. The only other option was to buy a pin of old peculiar and just keep the pin but i can't stand old pec and certainly couldn't drink it in 3 days :(

force carbing 5 kegs + cleaning

It is pretty simple. I force carb by setting the regulator to no more than 2 bar (20psi sort of area) and then disconnect and leave it out in the garage. If I'm in a hurry I go up a bit further to maybe 30psi and then take the keg for a roll around on the patio. Drop the pressure to 12psi and...

    Wanted - 50lts and 30lts beer kegs

Morrow brothers are alright but a bit dear. There really isn't much in it between them and crusader by the time you're done.

When does a CASK beer become a KEG beer?

Haha, fair enough! thats me stood corrected then. I'll change that to: I reckon CAMRA should accept aspirators. But then I'm not a member of CAMRA, so what it has to do with em is debatable at best :D

When does a CASK beer become a KEG beer?

For me, cask comes in a cask and keg, comes in a keg. You could break it down further and what say that "priming" is the defining factor and I'd probably lean more toward that being the decider. Beer, Real Ale, Craft are probably the more important definitions at the moment. Beer - the...

    Maxi 310 fermentation Chiller

Yeah I reread this shortly after and  seems my tablet doesnt do forum replies though. I only mentioned it because someone on another forum was wanting to do the whole recirc thing. build look good mate, nice one :) Barneey, how do you ensure that you always have liquid in the python...

How to scale a HERMS set-up?

I use a plate chiller and you do need ot be on top of sanitation but it isnt an issue. For home use I think a CFC is the way to go, being honest I'd definitely consider a CFC if I had to start over as they're much easier to be sure its sanitised. Its also dead easy to increase the size of em...

Argos Mini Fridge and tiny freezer compartment, Ideas?

I use a little husky fridge which I assume is about the same size for my starters and for storing yeast in :D might be worth a look if you wanted to do something like that

    Perry Process Equipment Ltd

The people at perry are plenty pleasant to deal with. Though they are a little..... excitable with how much they think things cost. I left them a message about wanting some 100 - 250L tanks, they got back to me and enquired what I wanted them for and my stipulations. So i told em, instant quotes...

    Maxi 310 fermentation Chiller

FV idea is a good one. However DO NOT under ANY circumstances use a cooling loop through your maxi, you will break it. It isn't designed to cool at that temperature and likely you've just torch the compressor rendering it useless. If you meant using it to cool a barrel of water and then use that...

    Too big boiler?

Now, if it were me I'd look at selling one and using that to fund a 80L mash tun then you'd have a HLT, a BK and FV all with a capacity of 150L :D As for deadspace etc, again if it were me I'd use a skin fitting or (if the pot was something weldable) take it to a fab shop and have an outlet...

    cooker hood extractor

Heres mine: Good points, you can see in to the kettle when its running. Bad points, not all the steam makes it into the extractor due to how high it is & theres tonnes of condensation which drips onto the work top Being honest, I would probably try putting a hole in the line with fastening...
