    Grapefruit beer

A friend of mine who has recently been to Canada came back raving about a grapefruit beer that he tried out there. Turns out it is this; http://whistlerbeer.com/beers/paradise-valley-grapefruit-ale/ I've had a look around and it seems I can't get any to try over here in the UK so I thought I...

    Volume measurement

Hello I have been trying the streamline my brewing technique recently and the one aspect that isn't particularly satisfactory is my volume measurement. I'm currently using a marked sauce pan to fill my HLT and then the other end of a brewing spoon as a measuring stick for my mash tun. So, how...

Best (cheapest) way to keep fv at right temp

Any thoughts on a tube heater vs a brew belt for using in a fridge. My local home brew store as the belts for about the same price as the heater.

Best (cheapest) way to keep fv at right temp

Cheers. I guess for the brewing fridge a small probe will be fine but if I ever want to use it to control my mash temp the longer probe could be handy.

Best (cheapest) way to keep fv at right temp

Looking at getting a brew fridge set up. Looking at Inkbirds, most people are suggesting the 308. Can anyone explain the difference between these two models? They seem to do the same thing but £7 difference. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B018K82UQU/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20...

    Boiler replacement suggestions

I'm very tempted by this, was the element difficult to fit and did you need any other kit to get a water tight seal? Also, is there a way of easily earthing the metal boiler itself? I will mostly be boiling outside so I guess it wouldn't be hard to do a DIY earth wire directly into the ground...

    Amarillo IPA

So, my first extract brew has been a comedy of errors, but I think I may have a drinkable brew at the end of it! So, as I'm mostly interested in getting some experience under my belt I have decided to go for ~10l batches to get my technique down. So, with this in mind I decided to brew this IPA...

    Substituting specialty grains

Cheers. I think I'll just stick with DME and hops then, makes my first extract a bit simpler any way!

    Substituting specialty grains

Hello all. Long time reader and first time (for a while anyway) poster. After 8 or so kit brews over the last 2 years (with a long hiatus) I have decided to make the jump to extract brewing. The end result I'm hoping is to produce a beer I'd be happy to serve at my wedding which is in November...

    Woodfordes Wherry Review

Had this bottled for about 3 weeks now. I was a bit worried after bottling that I had left VWP in the bottles (I had put the bottles in the dish washer with a small amount of VWP to sterilise, got bored after about an hour of the cycle and just opened the washer, forgetting that it might not...

    Wheat beer taste

    Wheat beer taste

Hi I'm a brewing newbie, on my third batch at the moment. My previous two batches (brewed at the same time) were a stout and a Yorkshire Terrier kit by York Brewery. They are 4 weeks since bottling now, and the stout it tasting good. The Yorkshire terrier on the other hand has a slight tang to...

    Wilkinsons

I checked in my local yesterday and they were out of a lot of stuff, including the Wherry I was hoping to brew. Checked the website and they were out on there too, so I wasn't holding out much hope, but checked back today and they had 2 kits, so it's now in my FV. What the poster above said is...
