    Sediment

Morning all, a quick question from a novice brewer. When I bottle my beer and leave for a few weeks I tend to get a little sediment in each bottle which I throw away once I’ve poured bottle into the glass. I’m using homebrew brewing kits and it all goes to plan, tastes good (imo) but I’d just...

    Final SG ??

Checked the hydrometer, my readings were from 1.001, 1.000 & 0.990 @ 20c 🤔 Of course the thermometer may not be deadly accurate and the hydrometer is only the one that came in my kit so maybe not the best. I’ll just wait a few weeks and see what it tastes like. 👍

    Final SG ??

Morning, Just going to bottle my St. Peter’s Golden Ale this morning and checked the SG, it’s 1.000 and started at 1.040, so am I right in thinking the ABV is 5.24?? It seems a bit high to me but I’m no expert, very much a novice, what do you guys think?

    Massive Head

Hi all, This pint has been left for 2 months since brewing, instead of the 2 carbonation tablets I used 1/2 teaspoon of ordinary white sugar. Some earlier samples didn’t have the head this has. Can I put it down to the sugar do you think? Thanks

    First attempt

Yes it’s a kit. I sterilized everything as per instructions. I don’t mind not having a head, it tastes great. Be interesting to see what the bottles are like that is used sugar rather than carbonation drops are like.

    First attempt

Just tasted my first attempt, very satisfied if I do say so myself! Just the right amount of carbonation for me although there is very little head when poured, not that it worries me, but why is that? Very clear and very little sediment in the bottle.

    Bottling, sugar and carbonation drops

Hi, I’ve just bottled my first attempt at brewing, I put 2 carb drops into most bottles as per instructions, I also experimented by only putting 1 carb drop in 2 bottles as I also saw someone else does this, I also did 4 bottles with sugar as per another recipe. I will await the results and...

    Nelson’s Revenge SG

Morning, Just tested my Nelson’s Revenge SG, it was 1.038 when I started fermentation and 1 week later today it’s at I believe 1.004. I’m not completely familiar with reading SG yet but that’s what I think it says, see attached photo. Am I correct and is that about right and should I leave it...

    Bottleing Nelsons Revenge

Hi, just a quick question please, new to the brewing game. My Nelsons Revenge is fermenting still, been going 5 days now, so I'll do another SG reading soon, and probably leave for another week or so. My question is, when I do bottle it, do I just put 1 of the little 'carbonation drops' in the...

    Nelson’s Revenge - no fermentation.

Morning, just a quick update, this morning all was well and it’s started it’s fermenting cycle overnight. Patience is a virtue! 🤣👍

    Why’s that? Too warm??

    Nelson’s Revenge - no fermentation.

Would it be better if I moved it to our airing cupboard where it’s a constant 20-22c, thanks

    Nelson’s Revenge - no fermentation.

Hi, I made up the Woodfords Nelson’s Revenge this morning, following the instructions to the letter. The brew temp is 22-24c by the stick on thermometer, room temp is just 18c. After 6 hrs leaving it like that there seems to be now fermentation going on. Any idea what’s gone wrong or am I...
