Can anyone recommend a wood chipper for mulching?

Thanks Tony Can I ask what volume of apples you juiced. We're looking at around 200 Ltrs this year, so feeding apples one at a time, even if not chopped, could still be quite time consuming.

Can anyone recommend a wood chipper for mulching?

Hi A group of us are preparing for our 3rd year of cider-making. We're aiming for somewhere in the region of 250 ptrs. We've come to the conclusion that the mulching is the step that takes us the most time. We used a couple of 1600w electric shredders last year. They did the job but kept...

    Fizz, but no head?

Do you wash your glasses in a dishwasher. They have an anti foaming agent that can leave a residue on the glass. Give them a good rinse.

    Which IPA?

I just did a Munton's Gold IPA and although it's only been 10 days in the pressure barrel I couldn't help a sneak taster. I'm very impressed. Looking forward to drinking it once it's conditioned a bit more!

When are brews ready to drink?

I dry hopped a brew (muntons best)and started drinking it after a few weeks. It was so drinkable it went pretty quickly. I then Found 4 bottles in my garage quite a few months later and I now regret drinking so much when it was so young. The mature versions was a completely different beer. ...

Fermentation Vessel - Empty using tap?

I have a FV with no tap which I use for primary fermentation, then transfer to a FV with a tap typically after 7 days, then leave it for 7 days before bottling (with a little bottler) using the tap. I use this approach as it gets the beer off the muck, while giving it a little more time to clear...

    Fiery Ginger Beer

I followed the original recipe and made a batch last Xmas. Drunk most of it through the summer, but found half dozen bottles of it when clearing out my homebrew stash in the cupboard. Forgot how nice it was. I skinned the ginger before grating them. Some people have said the skin can make it...

Do you return your own glass?

If a pub needs a potman to collect glasses that needs to be paid for somehow and that means extra pennies on your pint!

Anyone Had To 'Buy In' For Christmas??

I've not bought anything in, but I did a favour to someone earlier in the year and they just brought round a 18 pint beer box of Wherry. Just set it in the pantry, so hopefully it will settle in time for xmas day.

    Woodfordes Nog Review

Drinking my first NOG now. Only 2 weeks in the bottle and it's a cracking pint. If you lot reckon it improves a lot with age then I'm looking forward to keeping some back for my birthday (June).

ALE MARY! What's the worst beer you like?

I'm an ale drinker mostly, but in the summer I quite like those cheap bottles of french lager - or green grenades we me and my mates call them. Doesn't really matter what brand as long as they are nice and cold. The smaller ones are great as they've been drunk before they get warm!

    Hops for Woodfordes Norfolk Nog

Bottled the Nog at the weekend. It's a mighty tasty brew and I was tempted to double check the FG just so I could swig the beer in the trial jar! Don't think my 44 bottles will last very long….

    Hops for Woodfordes Norfolk Nog

I used fresh 'English Ale Yeast' and it's fermenting a treat. As I said, it smells lovely so I think I might take your advice and leave it as is.

    Hops for Woodfordes Norfolk Nog

The reason I want to dry hop it is because the kit is past it's best before date. Just wanted to make sure it's not lost any of its freshness...

    Hops for Woodfordes Norfolk Nog

i must admit it smells lovely and hoppy already. keeping it the same as what's already in it seems sound advice.

    Wilkinsons Pinot Grigio Review

I struggled to get mine to ferment right out (was stuck at 998-1000) so I bottled it anyway as my wife prefers the sweeter side of medium. It is sweet, but passable!
