    Creamy head!!!

Many of the beers I'm looking at brewing don't have torrified wheat in them but from what I've read its a requirement for a good head. If I was to replace some of the other malt(s) with this, how much would I use for a 23l batch, I'm guessing at around 100-150g??? :wha: Alternatively are there...

    First AG Brew.

Got a 40 litre boiler a 20 litre boiler and a 28 litre mash tun, and various other necessities. I'm going for a version of Exmoor Gold from Graham Wheelers British Real Ale book. It looks a fairly simple recipe to start with as it's almost a SMaSH (except its got three hops!!  )...

    AG brew/water volume question.

I'm reading Dave Line's book "brewing beers like those you buy" picking out some recipes I'd like to try when I switch over to AG in the new year. I have a question on the volume of water used in these recipes. For a 25 litre brew, he uses for example 12 litres for the mash and then tops up to...

    AG set up advice please.

I'd like some advice over the planned AG set up please. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/100ltr-microb ... 2a342f6ba3 Ideally I'd like something like this and 100litres would be desirable as if I'm doing it I might as well do a few kegs at a time. Price wise it's more that I want to pay but I am...

    Sediment on top of WOW

Brewed two batches of WOW. The first was the standard brew, the second had two of the white grape and two apples cartons replaced like for like by two red grape and two cranberry, to make a sort of rose/blush type wine that I plan to back sweeten with rose cordial. Anyway as the title suggests...

    The dark side.

Cometh the spring cometh the big switch to AG. I plan to use the shed as it has electricity and is close to the outside tap although at 6ft x 10ft I'm not overly blessed with space. Stage one will be a shed refit and replacing the bulky wooden shelving for some space saving stainless steel...

    Guinness surger

Anyone tried them, I'm thinking of getting one to try instead of carbonating my bottled beers. I wonder if it will work for fizzier lagers and ciders etc?

On the 27th of December 2012, I took myself down to my local homebrew shop and invested the princely sum of £56 to get myself a home brew starter pack and a can of Coopers Draught. As we stand just less than 10 months on my brewing total is just 8 litres short of brewing 1000. It's been mostly...

    Triple Cooper's kit brew night.

Mrs KC is off out for the night with her chums so me and little kc are having a boys night in. He's six and obsessed with his lego and (what I laughingly describe as) my iPad, so I'm at a bit of a loose end. There's some rugby on TV, I have a shed full of brew, some extra mature cheddar in the...

    Can you add finings twice?

I've stabilised and added finings prior to racking. I've back sweetened with a tropical fruit juice but its left the racked wine cloudy. I was thinking of adding more finings and reracking is this a good idea?
