Can you do anything with hops after dry hopping?

Just fished my bag of Saaz hops out of brew. First time I've dry hopped. I notice theres still a lot of aroma to them and they feel a little oily to the touch. It got me thinking is there anything I can do with them or is straight in the bin for them?

    Is my Cider infected?

I've got 3 batches of cider on the go at the minute ( my first attempt) I went to check on them today and noticed one of the lids wasnt on properly. There have been one or 2 fruit flys in my brew room over the last week. I opened it to check and there was a very thin pale white film across the...

    You snooze you lose.

Left blackberry picking a bit late. Where I get my blackberries had been heavily foraged already (never seen anyone picking there on years) So I had to fight my way through brambles nettles to get anything. 3 hours later I come home with 3 kilos of blackberries. Scratched stung and stinking I...

Cheap (ish) swing top bottles in Aldi.

Judt back from Aldi and they have just stocked with Des Halle in 500ml brown swing top bottles for £1.79. Thats not a bad price for the bottles alone. But the beer is actually supposed to be okay based on reviews I've read. For some reason this beer was not with the other beer but was on a...

Think I've had my first brewing disaster.

I followed the alco coke recipe (using my lhbs own brand wine instead of the youngs yeast) SG was 1059. Almost 7 weeks later at 22C the thing was still bubbling (about 1 every 50 seconds). I'm planning on starting 3 ciders this weekend and needed the counter space. So on Sunday I stabilised it...

    Small scale hop growing options?

After my first go at dry hopping I've decided I'd like to use hops grown myself. My problem is SWMBO is not keen on the idea having us just spent the summer redoing the whole garden of new home. She thinks long lines of hops would spoil it. I,ve seen Hops grown on obilisk trellis but assume...

I needed to clear a wash quickly to free up a demijohn. so on Sunday I used a 2 part wilko wine finning. I put part A in correctly proportioned. But being in a rush a bit later I stupidly put the whole part B in without thinking. The wash has cleared 2/3rds of the way down but the bottom part...

    Chocolate Stout opinion

I'm planning on doing a chocolate stout by modifying a kit. On digging through these forums there are a lot of opinions on the best easiest ways to do this. The most tempting suggests adding a85% chocolate bar and 200g of lactose removing as much fat from the top of the wort as possible. I have...

    Back sweetening question

How much sweetener do you generally use to back sweeten wine. I made a batch of cabarnet sauvignon. I tried it before bottling and while it was nice it was quite dry, I back sweetened with sweeten using half a cup of sweetener. I found this amount on-line somewhere but cant remember where, the...
