    Co2 supplier recommendations

Supposedly, food-grade gas is guaranteed to be free of contaminants, but welding gas is not. I'm not sure how true this is in practice - the manufacturing process may remove most contaminants anyway. To be honest, I switched back from using gas / corny kegs. It's a lot of kit, and finding gas...

    3-tier brewstand

Finally got my AG set-up where I want it - thought you all might be interested in some progress pics. I have a Buffalo boiler HLT (boy was it disappointing to learn its limitations the hard way!), which works fine for mash/sparge water, and a gas-fired BK. The mash tun I made a few years ago...

    Bulldog grain mill

I have the Bulldog, and turn it by hand. Take a bit longer, but it definitely works and I'm not sure using a high-speed, low-torque drill on a mill is good for either mill or drill. I mill outside, which solves the dust problem athumb..

    Malt mill in Cardiff area

Hi all, I accidentally ordered whole grain instead of crushed - does anyone have a mill I could use/borrow in the greater Cardiff area? Would be happy to compensate in homebrew! Thanks in advance.

    Screw-top bottle seals

Thanks for all the help! Is there a reason these aren't used any more (apart from the lack of spares)? The person I got them from said he used them for sparkling wine, so I assumed they would be good for bottle-conditioned homebrew.

    Screw-top bottle seals

Hi all, I recently acquired some screw-top bottles that need new seals. I am not sure what this type of bottle is called, and can't find much online. Could someone point me in the right direction? See pic below. Thanks in advance!

Wanted - gas-fired boiling vessel and other kit

Hi all, I'm returning to brewing after a few years break, and am looking for a few pieces to complete my new set-up. I'm in the South Wales area. Gas-fired boiling vessel, around 50 litres. Fermentation bucket - must be in good shape Bottle washer and drying rack Flip-top bottles...

    Post-mortem

Thanks for all the information - I suspected it was the pitching temperature. I'll know better next time.

    Post-mortem

Hi all, Just had a taster of some beer I've got in secondary that I made at the end of June. The flavour is dominated by a strong punch somewhere between raw alcohol and banana vinegar. My two questions are: What have I done wrong? And: Will it improve with age?? It's a fairly standard...

Stuck mash on first AG brew

Thanks for the replies! Glad to know I was on the right track. I'll cut a load more slits in - I originally had them facing down to reduce deadspace, but put them up for the photo. Also, I'll ad a syphon tube - good idea, didn't think about that.

Stuck mash on first AG brew

Hi all, I've finally acquired all the bits and bobs to do a 5gal AG brew, and today was the first test-run. I only did a 1 gallon batch, so I wouldn't waste too much in the learning process.... Here's the set-up: Among other problems, I had a stuck mash. I've previously used a double...
