OK iv read a little about about these but as a noob to wine making i have a question or 2 1. Do you need to use these in kit wines or just home recipes ? I have kit wines on the go at the min which doesn't mention them so wondered if the stabilizers that's added with the finings did the same...

Hello & quick Q about using an electrim immersion heater

I bought a 50w tropical tank heater to try a water bath to regulate temp. This came with sucker pads to mount to glass but I've not used them. This was safe to submerge in the water and I just trapped the wire in the handle to stop it moving. I used a plastic demijohn and a 5 gallon bucket (the...

    Wine saver as a degasser

I've seen a 'whip' on eBay advertised for wine degassing, £11 or there abouts, fits to a cordless drill. Pretty sure I'll stick to the free method of shaking my demi's.

    Wilko strawberry wine query

I'm currently brewing a strawberry kit from wilko's as my first foray into wine making, where it says top your dj up to 4.5ltr and leave for 7 days to ferment, mines just stopped after about 2 weeks. So don't worry about it still bubbling away after 7 days.

    Wilko's strawberry country wine

I have one dj in my room (as it's not my house) and one in the garage, hence using the heater while it's cold in there

    Wilko's strawberry country wine

So today I've started my 2nd ever wine kit, again it's a strawberry kit like my first but I'm trying out the technique of controlling the temp in a bucket of water with an aquarium heater. Fingers crossed
