    Clear before bottling or not

    Hi all, I've always used pressure barrels for my brews, but now I'm going to try bottles for 1st time, my problem is how long do you leave it after fermented, I've read people clear their brews 1st using finnings etc. but will this remove the yeasties as well, how long will yeasties stay alive...

    Glycerine

    Hi I always buy the glycerine for my wows at Asda...£0.99p for 38ml, I just bought from boots a bottle for £1.29 for 200ml ! The difference being the spelling of the boots one is glycerin ..no "e" on the end, so my question is it the same stuff and can I use it in my wine, it looks and smells...

    Maturing wine

    Hi all, quick question, after wine is all clear I put straight into clean bottles and left to mature (well as long as I can resist) but if I were to mature into demijons would I still need to add 1 campden tablet as nothing gets added to bottles? ....cheers jim

    Calculator

    Hi I'm sure I've seen a calculator for working out sg by inputting sugar content from cartons of juice, or is there a simple formula, cheers....jim

    Hi all noticed my local supermarket has both red grape juice and purple grape, is there a difference? Is one a better quality grape? cheers. Jim

    Cloudy/not cloudy

    Hi all, quick question, I've had now a couple of batches, bottled fruit wows, and as I like my wines chilled, when I pour from fridge the wine is cloudy but when its sat in glass after 10mins it clears, (its not condensation I checked) I ferment with pectin added so can anyone explain this...

    Sterilsing corks

    Hi all, I'm still an apprentice here and have just gone from screw tops to cork for wine, I soaked corks in sterile solution then rinsed and put in bottles, I opened one after 2 weeks and wine had foisted smell and taste, the cork was damp and disintegrated when opening and had very foisty...

    How long is sterile?

    Hi everyone this my first post so apologies if in wrong dept. I have noticed people after sterilsing equipment they pour back into a dj then seal top with foil for future use I guess, my question is how long can you keep re-using solution ? cheers
