I don't think anyone can give you a clear answer, because your question is too broad. Beer from scratch suggests you want to brew from grains, but that could mean Brew-in-a-Bag (BIAB), or a 3 vessel system - hot liquor tun/mash tun/boiler. I'd suggest you look around the forum a bit, to get a better idea about how and what you want to brew. Then you'll be able to ask specific questions about equipment, recipes, etc.
One caveat tho'. In your post you say "...i have been given 3 aluminium kegs pub type ones from a closed down bowling ally..." Kegs usually belong to the brewery that fills them, not the retail outlet. There's an outfit called Kegwatch that reunites strayed kegs and casks with rightful owners. If they don't belong to the bowling ally, they can't give them to you, so you might want to check who actually owns them before you start converting them into boilers, etc.
