Can anyone tell me if this is an acceptable replacement for honey malt?

Cheers.

Not really imho, honey malt is a very unique malt. That said plenty of folk will tell you you can use melanoidin and some places sell it as honey malt. Foob4r has used it, I'll send him a message and ask him to comment

It's a replacement but definitely a different flavour, Gambrinus honey malt does taste distinctly of honey in the finished beer, unfortunately it is unavailable here. That said I have seen this honey malt appear in the last few months but I have no idea how it compares as I have not tried it myself, it is likely that it is much closer though.
Just be careful with the stuff, it is quite potent.
