Is there any advantage/disadvantage in using 2 yeasts in the same FV, if done i would have thought the same amount of yeast should be used as normal, just two different strains.

Yes people do it. I've added a different strain when I've not got below 1020. But I've read about people adding two strains at the start.
 
If you've a got a strain that has the ester profile your looking for but doesn't attenuate as much as you'd like you can add a second strain to get a lower attenuation. As crewebrewer mentions Adnams uses two strains and afaik this is the reason why
