Hi all,
I've just finished a gallon of Show Mead. I found out that Mead shouldn't be racked until it is finished. It cleared brilliantly as my Mead always seem to, without finnings.
I had a stuck ferment, which always seems to happen, but I also found out that you should add more nutrient than a fruit wine because it doesn't have the things the yeast needs in honey.
Turned out nicer than my previous mead. Just hope the other 2 gallons I have on the go work out too. I've had nothing but problems with a Pyment and Metheglin I'm brewing.
Ingredients for my Show Mead:
4lb Honey from ASDA ã5.60
1/2 tsp powdered tannin
3 tsp of acid
1 heaped tsp of super yeast
1 tsp of nutrient (should have added more 72 hours in )
Came out at 14% ABV
Cost per bottle = ã1.69
