This is a clone recipe for Harvest Pale (Castle Rock) that I have made to great success (although the batch I made had double the hops shown below, that really did make my tabs laugh!):

Lager Malt 5kg, Maris Otter (Pale Malt) 132g & Torrefied Wheat 132g
Hops at start of boil: 6g Galena, 12g Cascade & 6g Pilot
Hops 10 minutes into boil: 8g Pilot & 20g Cascade
Hops 20 minutes into boil: 6g Pilot & 12g Cascade
Hops at end of boil: 5 g Galena

I made this recipe up after a tour around the Castle Rock brewery (which starts in their tap, the Vat & Fiddle opposite Nottingham Train Station) which revealed the ingredients (not the proportions though!). I worked out the proportions from clues on various website and help on the hops from my brew supplier (http://www.murphyhomebrew.com/).

I'll definitely be making this again - its not exactly the same but close enough for me!

Cheers
Clive

Hi Clive,
I love Harvest Pale and will have a go at this one.
Are the hops listed above in the correct proportions? Have you made a brew using the above Hop additions?
Thanks FB

Hi FB

Apologies for long wait for my reply - I'm only just now ordering new supplies for the 2012/13 brewing season!

I have not as yet tried these proportions, this is the scaled back recipe from the one I first made (which had double the hops, it was tasty but you couldn't have too much!).

I'll be having another go in the next couple of months - this time I'll be putting half in a pressure barrel and bottle conditioning the remainder.

Good luck!
Clive

Clive I am looking to have a go at Harvest Pale, but are having problems with Pilot Hops !, is there an alternative please ?

Kind regards

Mike
