Hi guys,
just trying to get a clone near to one of my favourites beers. I think this will be fairly close but if anyone has any suggestions for tweaks I'd be very grateful.
23l batch.

Maris Otter; 4.6kg (84.4%)
Vienna; 500g (9.1%)
Crystal 150; 200g (3.6%)
Dark chocolate malt; 150g (2.75%)

Hops; Styrian, EKG and Fuggles, but I'm not sure how much and when yet.
Considering trying out hopping the wort pre boil.

Yeast will be WLP005
Unfortunately I've just found out that 007 is a closer match, so next time I'll use that.

I've read that Hobgoblin is 90% pale malt, 8% crystal and 2% chocolate. Apparently this info came from Marstons, who own Wychwood. They also said it is bittered with fuggles and golding and late hopped with Styrian Goldings. I would imagine it's about 35 IBUs.

Edit: this recipe was gleaned from a discussion with the brewer on a podcast and posted on JBK in 2011:

OG 1046
IBU 36
70% efficiency
60 min Boil
wlp023 burton ale yeast
Mash at 67c

90% 4.29kg pale malt
7.5% 360g crystal 75l
2% 100g choc malt
.5% 20g cane sugar (personally i would'nt bother)

14g EK goldings @ 60min
14g Fuggles @ 60min
16g Cascade @ 15min
64g Styrian Goldings @ 15min

Ferment from 16c to 20c over 3 days

That's fantastic, thanks clibit.
I was wondering if the Vienna had a place in there, I'll leave it out I think.

Opened one of these last night and was pleasantly surprised! You could get away with passing it off as the original - if only that the original is so hit and miss! But it tastes good.
As with my OSH clone the crystal 150 is fairly dominant, so I'd either use less or the same amount of 75.
Th colour wasn't quite there but swapping the crystal may sort that out.

Ha! Yes it does!
Another lesson learned!
Got to start checking ebc and lovibond details before buying...
