Yesterday was a brew day
An American hopped Black IPA last brew for 2013

Name: AG#26 Years End

Grain Bill:

4000g Marris Otter 77%
500g Crystal Malt 9%
350g Torrified Wheat 7%
172g Chocolate Malt 3%
150g Black Malt 3%

Hops:
38g Columbus 13.5% 60min
40g Cluster 7.3% 15min
35g Cascade 7.6% 5min
30g Cascade 7.6% Dry Hop

Mash at 68°C for 90 minutes
Boil for 60 min. Add a pinch of gypsum at the beginning..

Yeast:
Ossett Brewery Thwaites Strain
Ferment at 20°C
Brew to 24 litres

SG: 1046
FG:

Brew Date: 29/12/2013
 
Transferring to secondary FV and 30g cascade added
Dropped to 1010
Giving me a 4.7%

Think this was a bigger quantity in my boiler, but only managed to get 24 litres in the FV due to the size of the FV, some wort was lost

Yeah I am happy with this brew, its really is hoppy! The cascade stands out in this, cant wait for it to be bottled :D
 
Rough calcs in my head and I reckon this numbers are similar to my system.

I get 55% brew house efficiency according to beersmith. Not as good as some folk but I'd rather have an accurate number rather than guess work. Just costs me £1 or something more in grain!

No big deal.

interesting, brew mate says 69% lol

I just use a hand held calculator, there were no brewing progs, or internet for that matter, when I started!
AC, I would have expected 5.4%, but your are still in your early days!
****, just re-read the thread, not with brew 26 you aren't!
