In between calls with finance managers and early life support teams, decided to get ag#3 on
It's a kinda take off of orfys hobgoblin clone.

20l mash vol
3kg hook head irish malt
0.1kg caramalt
0.1kg crystal 120ebc
0.1kg red crystal 340ebc
0.1kg chocolate malt 1000ebc
Mashed at 65c for 60mins

2l dunk sparge at 80c

Leaving 20l boil volume
20g fuggles at 60min
15k EKG at 30min
10g fuggles and 10g EKG at flame out
No chill to 80c and removed hops

It's nice and dark and smells lovely. But my mash wasn't quite as high as I hoped, I was shooting for 67-69, but it started out at 65 and ended at 62c. Oh well...

Danstar notty yeast waiting to go in tomorrow once it's cooled down.

It may just attenuate a bit lower than expected because of the lower mash temp and be a bit drier but only time will tell but I am sure it will be good

Taken a peek and took a reading and we're at 1.012 so pretty much done!
It's really dark, almost like a porter, which is a bit of a shock as the colour profile on brewers friend had it down as a hobgoblin colour.
Tastes awesome though so I don't care

Next weekend bottling time!

its cold and i'm working from home and its a friday lunchtime - more than enough justification to have a snifter at my 'NotGoblin'

its almost a porter!
tastes lovely, caramel and chocolate and very smooth. plus its already retaining a good head after just 6 days of carbing up.
wont be long before this is getting brewed again!!! But maybe not so much chocolate malt.
