How exactly does a beer gun work?

Is it as simple as corny kegging and force carbing my beer. Then squirt beer into bottle with beer gun and cap the bottle?

If beer is carved to say 2 volumes in the keg will it be the same in the bottle when i re open it?

How long will beer keep in the bottle if done this way (same as the keg)?

Yes - you need to connect the beergun to both the keg and the CO2 so you can purge the bottles, then away you go. I love my beergun for bottling but wouldn't want to faff about sanitising and cleaning after use just to fill a bottle or two.
You will lose a bit of carb when filling, but this can be kept to a minimum by chilling the bottles before filling.
