Blue chutney barrel with no plastic grade markings

Hi, I've got a blue 45/50l plastic chutney barrel that was sold as food grade, but doesn't have any markings on to identify either the type of plastic, or whether it is food grade or not. It was manufactured in India in 2011. Am I safe to assume it is food grade? I am fairly sure it is an HDPE barrel, although I know that that doesn't necessarily mean it's food grade. Thanks.

Impossible to tell. I know I used containers when I first started brewing which I thought were food grade, the cider tasted like plastic and 5 gallons went down the drain along with 5 gallons of wine in a second container.

food grade as to be stamped by law from 1987, even the fakes are stamped. so if yours is not....

Fvs are like 7 quid in wilko at the moment. I wouldnt risk it for the sake of a few quid...
