My partner and I attended this event with friends as their plus ones.
An enjoyable day where i clocked in a few decent imperial IPAs and imperial stouts.
I attended two tasting sessions, Brewdog and To Ol. At both sessions i had my homebrew head on and asked them (politely) about mash temperatures. Both brewers tend to mash low and long - the Brewdog chap said that they go as low as 55c sometimes with a mash time of nearly two hours.
To Ol chap echoed the sentiments saying they also mash low, usually about 65c.
So, for my next brew (an RIS) i think i'll be looking at mashing at 65c for 1.5hrs to see how it pans out.
Overall it was a decent day and my new favourite DIPA was established (Cloudwater DIPA V3) early on. Oh, and I also shared (via a friend) one of my homebrew BLIPAs with a head brewer from one of my favourite breweries - his comments were good and as a gesture he shared me the recipe so i could tone it up!
