Does anyone use Campden tablets to treat their brewing water?

What's the verdict?

What was your beer like before and after you started using them?

I always have done as all the starter ag guides suggest to do so. I think out of habbit now for homebrew. Commerically I have never used it but then I have always been brewing other peoples beers. Perhaps I should ask?

depends on your water too. I've never had any problems with our water line in Birmingham, but I hear some people really struggle without campden!

Our water stinks like bleach sometimes. I always use a camden tablet, works a treat.

Getting Thames water so campden is always used. Sometimes I think the water is pumped directly from the river

They're dirt cheap, they neutralise Chlorine and Chloramine. The question has to be "Why wouldn't you?"

Depends. I got good results with kits, but found that when doing AG, my efficency was only 60-65%. When I went back to normal tap water with a campden, it was up nearer 72%.

I can only think the filter was taking too much out, including some of the minerals required.
