HI all,
i'm going to do Alemans Effin Oatmeal stout tomorrow but realised i only bought 1kg of Flaked Barley and the recipe calls for 1250g  . Should i substitute with more Oats, carry on regardless or make a 50 mile round trip to local HBS first thing in the morning!!! :wha:

hahah, "local"

anyway, just go for the kilo and top it up with pale malt if you want to make the ABV up. I wouldn't muck with the oats personally...

my closest one does'nt open on a monday!!
i think i'll just go for it with reduced flaked barley and see what happens!

I would substitute with oats as they are serving the same purpose in the grist. But don't forget your glucan rest. Aleman has suggested adding the flaked barley to the glucan rest as well.
