Don't hop pellets come in packets that are already c02 flushed?
The companies doing the pelleting will flush them with an inert gas and sealed in a Mylar bag, what the home brew store does is repackage them into vacuum sealed bags. Best to find out if your HBS is flushing before re-packaging.
 
Perfect - thanks for that. Unfortunately I'm 1.5" too short in my fermentation fridge for this arrangement. Good thought though!

Could you tilt it in the fridge on the stand or lower the clearance with a plant pot holder etc.

I use the valve dry hopper, it is fiddly. Get a 1 litre tonic water bottle, it's a much better shape. I purge with a bike valve at the other end.

It is fiddly to get them to drop. The back of the bread knife and bashing the neck of the bottle works though.
