Hi I read that glycerine is also an emulsifier and I was wondering if anybody has experience with that or know how effective it is? I am asking because I saw that Sainsburys has nice baking flavouring but they are on a rapeseed oil base. Or does the alcohol in for example a 5% brew be enough to not have oil floating on the top?

Thanks.

I usually find small oily patches derived from flavouring packs. However, these always vanish after fining. You can try glycerin, although I have never used it for that purpose. It adds body, a slight sweetness and makes a harsh flavour smoother. Use up to 25 g per gallon. Cheapest source is Boots.
