In 2005 I was approached by the Labour candidate for my constituency.

I told him that I was voting Tory.

“Don’t do that”, he said, “If you do that then the economy will go pear shaped, taxes will go up, services will have to be cut, standards of education will go down, there’ll be thousands of immigrants and millions will be paid to friendly fat cats in the city”.

I did vote Tory.

And do you know? He was right!

I hate labour.

I live in an area that has been Tory for decades, rural essex.

However, the Labour party are (as far as i know) the only ones who will keep the tax credit system untouched.

If i vote for anyone else i will be voting to take money away from myself, not a lot but still.

Totally confused. :? :? :?

True, but i really cant see that any party can make anyone better off, anyone in will have to make huge cuts and/or raise taxes dramatically.

You are quite right, there will be huge tax rises all round, whoever gets in, however if labour get another term they will keep borrowing more and more to complete, their out of control little projects that are of little value to anyone, If the Lib Dems sieze power then they will just hand over what little power of governance the government still has over to the EUROPEAN STATE, leaving whoever gets in next time with no power.

Forget about today, think about what you want for your kids in 10-15 years time, do you want them in work or in a slum? I Know what I want for mine, & I am quickly thinking the UK can no longer provide it for them.

I honestly think the tories would be the best thing for the future.

We had a load of UKIP leaflets dropped in at work. I agreed with everything they had to say, absolutely everything but they have absolutely no chance, and i'm not sure they would be up for the job.

Trouble is the future seems a long long way away. The only way i will be able to buy a property is if someone leaves me a stash of cash or my numbers come up!

Rentals round here arnt cheap mines 650pcm, with all the other bills etc etc my 1300pcm wages really doesnt go far, i cant get council accomodation - I dont meet the criteria.
That makes the 100 odd pounds a month from the tax credits very important.

No government will give me anything more, the labour party seem the least likely to f*ck me over!

and if the Tory's get in the public sector will be slashed and ground in to nothing. Police, NHS and council services cut to the bone.

Can't see any of them making any difference, but think I'll give the Liberals a chance this time. They seem to be honest about saying they'll tax the **** out of you. Tory's and Labour will just use more stealth taxes :(

There has to be big cuts.

With regard to public sector monies...

Last saturday there was a head on crash outside my work, its a 30 limit, a bloke in his 40's fainted, went across and hit a g4s van. The car driver said his back hurt, everyone else got out, the driver that fainted stayed put in case of back injury.

Within 10 minutes there were three police cars, each with two coppers, two fire engines, one massive fire lorry thing, ane fire rescue car, one ambulance, one ambulance car, and the air ambulance.

The road wasnt blocked, there was no smoke, leaked fuel or life threatening injuries. most of them were just standing round.

later it was reported in the local press that the man was released from hospital later that day with whiplash.

Theres definatly cuts to be made.

Totally agree CC, I work closely with NHS and social services and both need the fat trimming, too much red tape and not enough work being done.

Dont even get me started on the asylum situation, not after i heard one(an asylum seeker) on the radio complaining that £48 wasnt enough for him to live on a week... they said he was housed had no bills to pay, and they were all getting £48 each to spend on food and clothes etc etc i wish i had £48 a week for each of my family to spend on food and clothes!!!!!!!!!!!

Rant over, i've decided that the general election is a little bit like alien v predator... whoever wins... we lose!

Colchester's been Liberal since '97. Guess you're a bit outside?

I can't understand how people on less than £100k think the Tories are good for them. Is giving a £1.2bn inheritance tax cut to the richest 2 per cent in Britain good for you? Is removing the top rate of tax, giving another £2.4bn to the richest 1 per cent good for you? Is cutting the tax on the pensions of the richest, handing another £3.2bn to the same 1 per cent good for you too?

Then Cameron's marriage tax relief policies will give 13 times more to the rich than the poor. To pay for this, he will slash programmes for the middle and the skint, like the Child Trust Fund, SureStart and state schools.

All this when the hardest hit are the poorest.

Im going UKIP cos let some other 'back and front' have a go.
Been lied to by all the other three.
A new broom could work.

Now then I wonder which party has allowed the above situation to happen, you a tax payer born here is entitled to bugger all and someone who has been here less than 5 years is better off than you, and you want to give them another 5 years, if your socialist you would be better with lib dems, I am not at all socialist, therefore I have to vote for the CONS, Now I would love to vote UKIP as I really think they have their heads screwed on, however, they are just too small a party to make a difference at the moment so vote for blue for me at the Moment, & it will only be because they will be better for business, we have to have a party that is good for businesses or there will be no work, cos once the big businesses have decided enough is enough, lets go make all our things in poland/china etc there will be no money to pay for public services and therefore no-one will benefit.

Its a 2 bed bungalow, quite old, modest garden, garage, small lean to. parking for a couple of cars. We were in a 2 bed flat for 550pcm but with the kids...they need a garden.

Its semi detatched, the one joined onto us was advertised at £795 earlier this year...its an exact copy. :hmm:

My candidate isn't on the form - None of the above.

Working in local government you really get to see where money is wasted. . . We are just trying to get in a new payroll system cause the old one is really struggling. 100K just for the upgrade . . . and that doesn't include the hardware Quad processor . . . . Quad Core 16 GB RAM 500GB Hard Drive in RAID 10 Array (ours will go on the SAN . . . but still ) . . . oh and the same for the test system . . . . and a duplicate sat in mothballs for DR purposes.

Just to run a Payroll system . . . that I was writing 15 years ago and we ran on 386 machines!! . . .Ok so we run 3 councils payroll and a couple of schools . . . around 8000 employees . . . that doesn't take that much processing . . . unless you write it in java to be platform independent. .. . . Problem is that Big industry sees local and central government as a cash cow to be milked dry . . . and guess what we can't compete against them . . . we can't say take your system and shove it up your **** we'll write our own . . . cause the Tories took that power off us the last time they were in . . . why do 'government' IT projects fail . . . cause of the f*cking incompetent consultants and software companies we have to use that are only interested in lining there pockets at the taxpayers expense.

We can virtualise our entire physical server estate (200 machines) using VM Ware on 8 Dual Quad core ESX hosts . . . and yet for a payroll system we have to use a machine that is twice as powerful as one of those hosts . . . it doesn't add up . . . and that is not the only example . . . Then don't get me started on the 'mobile devices' that they all have to have . . .oh no can't just have a phone must be able to get my email . . . Why FFS! What is so important about your email? . . Couldn't they ring you on a phone? . . . could you pick it up later?

Although Blackpool are Labour now we are traditionally a Tory stronghold (Those Blackpool Landladies you know) . . . A vote for anything but the big two isn't going anywhere, and I just don't want to vote for either of them, they have both F*cked the country in different ways when they have been in power. I'm leaning toward UKIP for the moment, but it might just go to Lib Dems as a protest.

jeez. glad i'll be voting Lib to keep out the ungrateful, short memory 'it was better with Maggie' brigade. grrr!

No one wants to win this election as there will have to be so many tough decisions that they're guaranteed only a single term. They're all thinking 'let someone else in and we'll pick up the pieces and go for the popular vote next time'.

Why the %$£& else would the Labour party allow Brown to stand? He has to be the worst PM of a generation.
