I found my copy of Traditional beer and cider making by Ian Ball a few weeks back and Ive decided to try some of my old faves.
So today I made 5 gallons of Saxon honey ale.
Took ages and the cost of 1.5k of pure honey has gone up a bit since 1990 but as far as I remember it's well worth it. Only difference from the recipe I used to make 20years ago was I used crushed crystal malt instead of cracked, which I cant find anywhere can you still get it ? Any way it smells gorgeous can't wait to tuck into this in a few months :drink:
