I inherited my dad's old brewing equipment last used in the 70's (he's not dead, just stopped brewing a long time ago).

In the box were some plastic bottle caps for beer bottles. They just snap in place, and are easily removed and re-sealed. They are re-usable since they are not broken when sealing or opening.

My guess is they can't withstand as much pressure as proper crown tops.
However, they seem to be convenient.

Can you still get them anywhere? I haven't been able to find a source.
There were only two in the box, by the way.

I never managed to get any carbonation until I switched from them to proper crown corks.
Nothing actually went off, but it was all flat, or nearly so.
I did wonder if it was partly due to putting them on wet (from the sanitiser). But how do you sanitise otherwise?

I used to use them in the early 90's and I to had flat beer, I gave up brewing beer after that, so that could be the reason.

By the way, thanks for the link.
I can find them now I know what they are called!
But will probably stick to crown corks (or PET bottles).
